I am going to start playing WoW again and decided to clean out my addon folder and just reaload everything since it's all out of date now anyways. I was wondering if I can just delete everything in the addons folder or is there somethings that were in there originally that I need to keep. Also if I change the names of the folders within the addon folder so I can more easily know what add on is what incase I want to get rid of them later would this effect anything?

Nope, renaming the folder has no negative impact on anything, it just won't be detected.

I haven't played WoW in a while, so I don't know whether any of the Blizzard UI is stored in the addons folder as of now. It used to be that you had to make interface and addon folder yourself when you wanted to install mods, but I think at some point they made some parts of the default interface be stored in the Addons folder.

So I would check if there were any "Blizzard" folders in Addons. If there are, you may want to keep those and delete everything else.

I don't mean renaming the actual addons folder but the actual file names of the addons within it. Also if anyone could tell me the names of the files I need to keep that would be great.




[EDIT] Okay I found it out for myself. If you delete the folder you just have to log in and it rebuilds itself.
