Ok i want to roll a mage and not sure what to make it. Iam either want a Troll or Blood elf mage. What do you guys suggest?

Either are good choices... blood elves just got a racial buff last patch, but spell haste rating is always groovy... Honestly I would say the troll racial is better as far as PvE is concerned... but Blood Elves compensate with their overall pretty-ness.

Blood Elves are more geared towards magic-using classes with thier Mana Tap racial ability. But really go with whatever you want...I find (like in real life ) race doesn't matter...

From those two choices I'd say Blood elf as they have more mana and mana tap/arcane torrent while trolls have useless racials. But if you don't care about racials just go for whatever you like better. But I'd recommend going Undead for the racials and casting animation.

Yea I do like how the undead cast but i already have a undead warlock, and I have a Bloodelf Priest. I like the trolls casting because it looks like is doing the hadukin move from street fighters ryu or ken. Do the racials matter that much or effect damage wise? Does it just matter what your geared?

No racials do not effect that much at higher levels, helpful at lower levels but nothing more.

Another question is spec. I was talking to some members of my guild and they tell me that fire for lvling and frost for pvp and arcane uses to much mana. I was thinking of going frost, but is it true that its for pvp?

Frost is good for either, while fire just puts out assloads of damage.... frost can be good for distancing yourself from your enemies.... fire you just nuke them

the only thing good about arcane torrent is the silence which is only useful for pvp. berzerking can be used for both altho i always forget. troll mage > blood elf mage.

other than the silence, arcane torrent/mana tap is terrible for casters. omg i get 100 or so mana back every 3 min, awesome when i have 10k+ mana! no not really, i never use it for mana only as a silence in pvp. its really good for rogues tho, instant energy!

and as a troll, berzerking aint bad especially with all this new haste gear out. berzerking is great for prince tho, enfeeble gives me 30% haste every chance i get

as to mage spec, fire and frost are the traditional specs but once you get really good gear at 70, arcane is the better tree. when it comes to lvling, it doesnt matter, pick what you like, youre a dps class with 3 dps trees have fun with it.

Level as frost, you have less downtime and also more defensive capabilities.

Fire is a case of kill or be killed.

Frost is more controlled, And when you get Shatter/Frostbite combo, you'll notice a fair bit more damage from it.

Yea im going frost i tried my GFs frost mage and man i like it a lot. Way better then fire imo I can kill things before they even touch me.
