What is wrong with Blizzard?
|
Hi guys.
Well, just last Friday I was playing WoW when I was disconnected in the middle of my game. I checked my email to find that my password had been reset. I found that I was banned for 72 hours and got a "Final Warning".
I was pretty enraged. The main details of the email which I received on that day looked like this:
" * * * NOTICE OF FINAL WARNING * * *
This is a notification regarding the World of Warcraft account XXXXXXXXX. Access to this account has been temporarily disabled for exploitation of the World of Warcraft economy or for being associated to accounts which have been closed for intended exploitation. Based on a review of the information presented, this World of Warcraft account has been given a final warning and a 72 hour account suspension, in addition to any previous warnings issued. Until the suspension has been lifted, the account will not be accessible. Please note that Blizzard Entertainment will be unable to provide further information regarding the specific time an account will become accessible again."
I did absolutely nothing wrong to receive this ban as far as I know, guys. I was involved with no other players, and I made no illegal actions during my week of playing time. I played by the rules.
So anyways, my account came back online yesterday and I resumed playing...
Everything was going well and normal, when tonight my account once again logged off. To my amazement, Blizzard suspended my account once again.
The email I received tonight had a somewhat different explanation. It reads initially:
" * * * NOTICE OF FINAL WARNING * * *
Account Name: XXXXXXXXX
Account Action: 72 Hour suspension
Offense: Violation of Exploitation and Client/Server Manipulation Policy - Unapproved Third Party Software
Details: Found to be using unapproved third party software that gave the player an unfair advantage over other World of Warcraft players.
The actions detailed above have been deemed inappropriate for World of Warcraft by the In-Game Support staff of Blizzard Entertainment. Based on a review of the information presented, this World of Warcraft account has been given a final warning and a 72 hour account suspension, in addition to any previous warnings issued. Until the suspension has been lifted, the account will not be accessible. Please note that Blizzard Entertainment will be unable to provide further information regarding the specific time an account will become accessible again. Be aware that any additional inappropriate actions may result in the permanent closure of the account."
The only possibility is that I have the add-on called Cosmos installed. Did they somehow detect that I had this add-on? My friends all use Cosmos, and none of them have been banned for this reason they have said. Is Cosmos actually illegal to use in this game? It merely organizes the layout more conveniently for me...
At this point I am extremely unhappy with the poor treatment I have been given by this company. I am ready to drop this account and quit playing such a game with horrible outcomes. I am NOT having fun anymore when I am mysteriously banned and then given no direct details other than a generalization. How am I supposed to fix something if I don't know what I am doing wrong?
Any info on this situation and what I should do would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

Well there's not much us on Neoseeker can do but I suggest when you get your account back remove all addons and if it happens again make a formal complaint to Blizzard.

I know it's more of a post in anger at this point...
But what I was wondering is if it is common knowledge for Blizzard to detect such average add-ons.
Has anyone else around here been banned for using these type of display-altering add-ons which don't even allow you to cheat?

Lol, Cosmos isn't illegal.
You probably got hacked. Ask them to do an IP check on your account.

The first time, they told me that my account "was probably compromised."
Here's the thing, I run virus scans every night automatically with updated definitions daily. I also play the game at a friends house, and his computer is secured as well. That friend knows nothing about WoW, and is not a gamer, so I know he didn't hack the account.
Could different IPs logging simply throw some odd sort of flag? I have changed my password about 3 times also.
I just don't understand this. Nothing has ever been taken or hacked from my character.

Have you tried calling Blizz and asking specifically what's up???
Something's amiss here. I've had an account for 3 years with nothing like this happening...

Sounds like something Jagex would do to Runescape players not something Blizzard would do to WoW players.

I've called there 3 times, and the last time I asked for a supervisor. I was not able to speak with one, only got the run-around every time and suggestions that my account was hacked. Their wonderful little admin group, which the salespeople tell me to send emails to for this problem, WILL NOT respond to me. The call center was closed tonight when I was banned the second time. I will be calling them again tomorrow, although I already know the outcome, of course they will give me the run-around once again. Apparently these folks have some serious issues on their end they need to correct. I understand that there is a large volume of players, but if I am just one, I can only imagine the thousands which are being treated equally as horrible.

No offence but have you ever actually played RuneScape? And if you have, did that ever happen to you? 'cause I know this is kinda off-topic but I played RuneScape for 2 years before I got WoW and that never happened to me.

LOL Yes Riggs has played RS, in fact he had played it for years, and quit when Jagex decided to start raping the players. And he did say it sounds like something they would do, not that actually have. I still currently play RS, as well as Wow, and I can say as well, since Jagex has taken a turn for the worse customer service wise, I agree it sounds like something Jagex would do, and before you start in, yes they did something similiar to me recently. Thanks
