Moonkin PvP

I'm levelling a druid at the moment, and would like to ask some questions about moonkin PvP.

please note that when I say PvP, I'm talking about battle grounds, and not arena.

what's the viability of moonkin PvP at the moment?
what are some good specs and glyphs?
also, any tips to being a successful owlbear in BGs are appreciated.

Moonkin viability in PvP sucks at the moment, I'm afraid.

I digress. I've played on a friend's boomkin for a few days, and as long as you can switch quickly between casting HoTs on yourself if your healer gets stunned and then back to boomkin form, you should be fine. After going boomkin again, reapply your DoTs.

For battlegrounds, you can use your treeants and Hurricane spells at chokeholds. You can deal a lot of damage this way to a lot of people. In Wintergrasp, obviously if you are defending, you can just sit on a high perch and hurricane the mob attacking.

I didn't say that it wasn't viable at all; just that the viability sucks compared to the other classes. The lack of arena respresentation of boomkins speaks for itself to be honest.

this pretty much covers the viability question and tips to being successful.
these tips seem pretty good, so I'll keep them in mind.
thanks =]

you seemed to have missed the part where I said that I'm talking about battle grounds and not arena.

re: Moonkin PvP

I know, and my original post was about BGs. If you aren't attacked by a melee then you'll be a cannon. On the other hand, if you get attacked by melee you're screwed unless they are really bad. Since you're a big fat chicken you're also normally attacked first.

re: Moonkin PvP

I'd say that the only drawbacks to Boomkin PvP are our large size. Most people pick us out over the crowd and Death Grip us first. =/ However, we have decent spells that can help fend off foes. Typhoon, Nature's Grasp, and Cyclone are all great things to either keep people off of you or help you force them to use their CD trinket, in which case you can use one of the other ones again. Depending on your trinkets and glyphs, you could get casttime decreases or extra buffs which help immensely as well. Memorize good rotations.

Talents generate a decent rotation for 1 vs 1 combat. Cyclone someone, wait till half the time is up and cast Starfire. If you've a decent crit chance, there's a good chance that'll crit and allow Eclipse to increase Wrath's damage by 30%. Spam Wrath and Moonfire when they get close, and if you're taking in too much damage, Typhoon them away and repeat.

Just try and balance all of that with healing yourself and you should be fine.

being a cannon sounds awesome, but being the first target by default would probably kind of annoy me.

with this current state of moonkin PvP, would I be better off with feral for PvP DPS and survivability?

re: Moonkin PvP

You would. However, if you enjoy moonkin so much then you might as well just go for it.

I don't know if noggenfogger works in forms, but it would help because you'd be harder to spot.

I'm not fond of Feral DPS... Some people are, but if you ask me, if you like that, you should just play a rogue or something. =/

That's true, but cyclone + heal is pretty awesome.

re: Moonkin PvP

I would choose a small form like Cat or Travel so that the enemy probably assumes you're a Hunter pet or in most cases, won't assume you're an immediate threat. If they come in range though, throw down Cyclone, retreat in Travel Form, then go Boomkin and make things go boom. There are plenty of 'get off me' balance spells, and with a few Glyphs you can limit movement even more. Aim for more Leather armor than Cloth. That will affect the armor multiplier in a big way.

Excellent advice, Random. I think I'll use that if I play poultry.

The size change of noggenfogger works, the transform.. haven't tested it.
