If you needed a healer for a raid, (same skill, best gear assumed) what class would you choose? What class, overall, do you think plays the part of "healer" the best?

Priests are the obvious choice for the best healing class. That being said, there is no obvious best healing class. All of them have their ups and downs although lately I've been rolling with a priest who has been getting experience in Heroics and he does a good job considering his gear.

Like Yoshi said, there is no best healing class, all classes have their fights that they are best at.

I've gotten into a discussion with a druid healer and he just seems to think Priests are obsolete at what they do anymore. And I'm kind of likely to agree.
Druids have all their HoTs and group heal abilities, where as Holy Priests have some more group heal but no HoTs. So I suppose he'd feel superior over it. But when it comes to it, I like throwing a Druid on Raid heals. And usually a paladin on MT heals. Or possibly disc. priest. I've found that I can -almost- rival a paladin as a disc. priest. but not quite close. -------------------  | |

Healing classes all have their own special gimmicks to contribute to healing. Paladins have single target heals. Druids have hots. Shamans have chain heal. And priests have...heals. Priests don't really have a gimmick considering they are excellent single targets healers but also viable raid healers with prayer of healing and circle of healing.
I've only raided with a resto druid so I don't know the in's and out's of the other three classes but I would have to agree in saying priests would be your "best" healing class considering they can do it all. Their only con is having only one hot (two if glyphed for prayer of healing) but it doesn't matter too much with the rest of the heals they have in their arsenal. As a druid, I can single target heal perfectly fine. I did it all the time on Patchwerk. But it's the priests and paladins who are picked first over me. I'm just the raid healer who heals the screw-ups now.  ------------------- Don't these talking monkeys know....

I have mixed opinions here...
Druids are obviously better for movement based fights for a reason, HoT spammage... whereas Priests seem to have versatility too, they can cast huge heals at an expense of standing still, or a slight HoT while on the move.. Shamans are great raid healers with Chain heal, and Pallies seem to be great MT healers with beacon, huge mana pools and FoL spam. | |

Only thing imo that separates all the healing classes is a druids battle ress... apart from that each are suited to their own styles and abilities. So it comes down to a) a matter of preference and b) what you want your role to be at endgame.

The best healing class is Angyles Cerddoriaeth because she is the one who determines in this forum who lives and who dies.
As for the priest yeah how the hell can people stand doing it if they don't RAF to at least like 40?  ------------------- Long live Sinfonia! | |
