From what I've heard, they are all viable for tanking. Frost is the easiest but not the best, blood is good to start off with at level 80 because it is probably better than frost but harder, and uholy is good with good gear.
But I am unsure, this is just from what i've heard, never got a DK past level 61

The Pure Progression Spec which is 50/5/16 is indeed a blood spec.

However that does require some gear for it to be the best spec, which I lack as of now. Positives of blood are great raid supporting buffs and the ability to stay up several minutes if a healer is having trouble healing you. The real negative I see is that it is fairly difficult to have a great amount of aoe aggro but most bosses don't require that.


My current spec is 7/51/13 Frost. I'm sure there's all kinds of things wrong with it but I could really care less. Frost has fairly solid aggro holding abilities including AoE and decent damage mitigation tools, but you're useless when it comes to raid buffs.


Unholy is generally used for magic boss battles but I've yet to see an unholy DK tank.

Blood offers the best threat and the best CDs. Frost is viable but it's not as good as blood, and unholy is completely unviable at this moment due to it's lack of TPS and poor mitigation.

Maybe the changes to scourge strike and bone shield might make it viable, but I don't see it happening.

i have made mine a frost tank atm and i seem to be able to keep aggro v well wen in ive presence with death and decay on but its quite hard sometimes wen the dd runs out, wat talents should i have to tank on blood if its the best?

i would suggest the frost (personnal experience)
