Still, you have to draw the line somewhere as to what consitutes a valid post in a GD. You really can't abuse the feature.

Yeah, well there's a difference between 'off-topic' and simply not contributing anything. Commenting that is surprising this General Discussion got posts is just spamming up the place. Furthermore, like I said, it's a forum, when you have something to say in a thread, you should do so, regardless of its current activity. It's not a chatroom.

Also, I'm currently going for Trickster as a secondary, though I haven't yet had the chance to do a decent test. I also finally completed my Sage/Alchemist. Alchemist is a suckier class than I remembered, and it has also become apparent that not every spell is tweaked equally well in the new system. Scathe for instance is way overpriced in MP, as is the Paladin's Holy Blade.

re: General Discussion 6 - We're just Knights stuck in a Nightmare

Well the Trickster as a secondary isn't much help to a close range job because of the usefulness of the abilities combined with a long (extremely long) range weapon. It seems pointless giving those abilities to a close range attacker when there are better secondary jobs. When I said Trickster I had him as a primary Trickster because not only do you get the original strength bonus from training as a Master Monk, but the speed from training as a Trickster. A long range attacker with a move like Pummel for close range can be something pretty deadly. <3

I've been trying out a Spell Blade/Green mage combination for my lead character so she can attack and support at the same time. So far she is doing really well, especially when paired up with my scholar damaging/healing whenever possible. Scholar is just so helpful once you get absorb items. D:

I posted that because that's the first time in at least four threads where there's been a big gap in posts. This forum has been limping along in activity for a while, and even when it was pretty much dead the GD didn't die off like that. Just noting an abnormality.

I do my best to make sure all my posts have some sort of purpose. Sometimes I'll write up something and then just close the tab instead of posting, I just like keeping my posts short & sweet. Writing a book to describe something that can be summarized in a sentence or two seems unnecessary to me.

re: General Discussion 6 - We're just Knights stuck in a Nightmare

I'd rather not have this discussion. So let's just keep it at that. Although, I will say this, Lorx is a mod and I trust that he knows exactly what's deemed as an acceptable post in a GD. Also, I considered the post relevant contextually. Had it been some n00b who came in here and said that, it would have been an entirely different story.

Back to the regular discussion.

I think I tried out that combination too. It was pretty decent and the Green Mage techs did a good job of complementing the Spellblade's short range attacks. Gosh, it's been so long since I've played this game. :S

re: General Discussion 6 - We're just Knights stuck in a Nightmare

The point was not that your post was short, Lorx, but that it was completely pointless, as if you were posting for the sake of posting.

As for jobs, I never even used a Green Mage, because I thought I had other priorities when I found out about it, and now I simply have a preference to other jobs. As for the trickster, I thought it was a good idea to have a ranged secondary for the Master Monk class, in the case that it can't reach the enemy that turn. I do not see any use in providing a ranged attacker with melee attacks.

Never used a trickster. My long range non-mage was a gunner with Mog Knight abilities and Concentrate, in hopes that they were still overpowered like in FFTA1 (they aren't).

re: General Discussion 6 - We're just Knights stuck in a Nightmare

The trickster job seemed pretty decent, being able to dish out some good physical damage at an extremely long range. However, I think the main purpose of Bangaas (and Seeqs) is to be the pointmen since they can dish out and take in a lot of damage.

re: General Discussion 6 - We're just Knights stuck in a Nightmare

That's why I usually keep a Bangaa around. As a distraction that soaks up damage and might do some good in the process. Well, in the first game anyway. FFTA2 I didn't use any.

I never could get a party that worked in the same ways that my FFTA1 party did, which was a fun strategy and it'd win against mostly anything. Even managed to win most of my Player vs Player games (Where you go on a hunting mission, ignore the monsters, then beat each other up).

Really should dust off my FFTA2, haven't played in a while.

But nothing beat the Gria. ;D I love that they can fly and I hope that in the next game they will have a wider variety of jobs.

And as to the thing about giving a long-range fighter a close-range secondary, its a lot more useful then you might think. Many long range jobs can use close-range attacks with a long range weapon. (I believe an Archer can use the Soldiers attack from the long-range?)

re: General Discussion 6 - We're just Knights stuck in a Nightmare

Yes, and Fusiliers can use Ultima from a long range, which is incredibly useful.

I really hope in the next game(if there is one) that the Rangers aren't so cheap. 400 damage a turn with 99% accuracy is insane.

Yeah I agree, it made the gam too easy if you used them, which I didn't.

Hopefully they will also make the Bard and Dancer jobs available to any character and bring back the Mediator, Chemist, Oracle, Calculator, and Mime from the original game.

Oh and also include the Transmute since they ran out of time in FFTA2.

re: General Discussion 6 - We're just Knights stuck in a Nightmare

Not only that, but I'd like to see more emphasis on the main plot in the sequel. I mean the stories in the sidequests were probably better done than the actual one. For a game that can last up to a 100 hours, the main story could have been finished in a fraction of the time.

Has there been any info released on FFTA3?

If they don't include WiFi battles, the game will fail harder than ET, the NES game.
