re: General Discussion 6 - We're just Knights stuck in a Nightmare |

Hahaha you actually bought it? You should participate in the forum then! I haven't started any discussion topics because I thought that barely anybody has it yet.
The game has a LOT to do with balance, whether it's characters or items. You can go through the whole game without ever having to recruit any new knights. However, if you do, you can substitute your own knights in the battlefield instead of the ones that are already there. This has it's own advantages since the knights in your party can be leveled up and strengthened as opposed to the default ones. Which allows you to use higher level uber weapons. Yeah, the story is a bit confusing because it keeps jumping around a bit and you have to connect the dots. Just remember that everything in the present is all linear (in terms of storyline) and the events of the past are all flashbacks that have something to do with either the knights in the battle, the location, or an event. And yeah, Maria and the King are the central protagonists. But once you finish the game the first time you get to experience the story from the eyes of the antagonist. Well there you have it Jenn. Somebody else to back up my claims. ------------------- Who Cares really? I mean, in the end it's all just politics. Friends helping friends, it's the same people who rise up again.

A couple questions. [:
Can you lose characters if they die? Do you have to complete side-quests/optional tasks for some characters? Does every character have their own abilities, or is it based on their class? Does each character have their own unqiue stat growth? *goes to forum* Edit: OMG Wii demo! I almost forgot about that, I'm going to go try it out. Edit2: Nevermind, its not there. ;-; ------------------- ![]()

1. Characters don't really have HP (since they're all supposed to be dead anyway); however, they have Vitality instead. Vitality decreases depending on the attacks you use. Once it's 0 you'll lose them forever. But you can always recover Vitality by leveling them up or fusing their soul with another knight with greater vitality. Also, some bosses have attacks that directly damage Vitality.
2. No. The only thing you'll ever need to do character-related is recruitment. All you have to do for that is use their corresponding key item which you get in an earlier battle and give it to them. 3. Kind of, but not really. The seven different classes determine which weapons they can use. Higher level weapons have a sort of "ultra" special attack (I forgot the actual term for it). Basically, these attacks can only be pulled off if the weapon's elemental affinity matches the knight's. So yeah, they do kind of have their own special abilities but it's dependent on the weapon too. 4. The main stats are Vitality, C.I., and L.I. I forgot what the latter two do. But the only one that changes over time is Vitality, depending on whether you use the knight or not. However, all three can be increased or decreased when you transfer the soul of a knight to another. ------------------- Who Cares really? I mean, in the end it's all just politics. Wait, so you combine characters together? So would you lose that character for good?
And does vitality replenish after fighting? ------------------- ![]()

Yep. The person who's soul you're giving will be lost whereas the receiver will be strengthened by it. Since there's dozens of characters there's going to be a lot of them who you don't use. So you can strengthen a higher level character by giving them a weaker one's soul, who you don't use anyways.
The only way to recover Vitality is be leveling them up (which only increases it by like 1) or fusing the souls. So just be careful when playing favorites. But this is also where the balance comes in when selecting whether to deploy your own knights for a battle or the pre-existing ones. If you don't recruit the pre-existing ones, you don't need to worry about Vitality at all. Up until the third (or maybe fourth) boss you won't need to worry about Vitality much, since he's the first to actually have any attacks that damage Vitality. ------------------- Who Cares really? Yeah, the game is pretty hard to understand just by having it explained to you. You have to go through the tons and tons of tutorials and tips to understand the game fully. After the first step tutorials I didn't even read the other ones. :/

I finally completed the mission, though more through sheer luck than anything else. Absolutely EVERYTHING went my way though. I got lots of Hastes, all but one enemy got poisoned and I got a Dual Wield Flurry (now that was ownage!). And I managed to summon Ultima as well, which meant that by the time the battle was over, the only character that had lost health was mine, and it had lost only one hitpoint. ------------------- ![]()

Yeah, once you get the game it's not as confusing as it sounds. Within an hour you'll be able to grasp the basics. The more detailed stuff you can discover as you continue playing.
Congrats Aulis! Speaking from experience, I know how frustrating that mission can be. xD ------------------- Who Cares really? I mean, in the end it's all just politics. Friends helping friends, it's the same people who rise up again.

*gives Aulis a "Huge Congrats"* Has anybody seen the E3 media on Scribblenauts yet? You can make Cthulu fight God, give God a shotgun & skateboard, and drop a toaster into a lake to watch a nearby shark get electrocuted. Heck, I'm not sure if there's anything you can't do. Btw: Somebody had Death and God fight, Death won. /religion ------------------- ![]()

quote Hikaric I wish I was at E3 just to test things like that. God vs Gamer Take your bets now! Apparently the image for "Gamer" is the same as the "Virgin" by the way, unconfirmed, but it would be funny. ------------------- ![]()
