White Mage or Seer? |
|
So I started playing this again after almost a year of not and I've been looking over some things. One of my main lineup is a Hunter with White Mage secondary (pretty shitty combo, but I don't really have anyone else who can be White Mage secondary). I remember looking at Seer to see if it was a good class, but it seems to be exactly the same as White Mage. Is there any difference and if so, should I try Seer or just stick with White Mage for secondary?

Seer's can learn a move that allow them to cast a spell and than follow-up with a physical attack, so I suggest Seer.
Also, the Seer learns Black and White Magic. The White Mage only learns White Magic, but although they only learn White Magic their variety of support magic is wider. Oh and the Seer only learns medium level White and Black Magic I believe. (-ara spells) ------------------- ![]()

Yeh, definitely go with the Seer. Although, don't use it as your full-time healer since the stat growths are going to be mixed if you've had it as a Hunter.

I think I'm gonna restart my game soon and make Luso a Paladin/Seer, since I saw that combo in the one thread and looks good.

Definitely Seer. Use a Seer/Illusionist combo and you're good to go. With that combination, chances are you'll rarely need to use White Magic spells since your character can just stay at the back + run around avoid getting hit, and hit all enemies at the same time.

sees/illusionist with magick frenzy is insane. Ninjas have nothing on a seer/illusionist, be can blast everyone for a nice amount of damage, then dart around bashing them across the face with a musty old book, and oddly, those hits CAN critical.

There are two big problems with Seer/Illusionist. First, Illusions have a huge MP cost. You'll either have to invest in both MP Channelling and Half MP, or use Recharge a lot. Also, Illusionists and Seers both have poor attack growth and terrible weapon selection, making the Magic Frenzy attacks much weaker.
Paladin/Seer is an incredibly good tank. Damage output is decent, with the Paladin's Knightswords being boosted by Magic Frenzy, but insane survivability with Paladin Def/Res growths, Heavy Armor, and the Seer's healing/MP restore. Unless you're at 99, though, I'd stick anyone you want to have seriously using Magic Frenzy into the Paravir job and just sit their. Their attack growth is insane enough to max out for most characters in about 60-70 levels. Boost the rest as a Black Mage (for Magic Damage) or a Paladin (for survivability) and you've got yourself a unit. Personally, I'd suggest Black Mage, since the most natural step from there is into Illusionist/Seer, who don't see the frontlines much anyway. By this time, you will have incredibly strong physical attacks, and should receive a big enough boost from Recharge to let you dump Half MP and get by with just MP Channelling (the clan privilege) and a Recharge every 4 or so turns. The rest, you spam Dual Wielding Illusion spells and things die. But you need the attack growth of a Paravir to really make it work. ------------------- Many thanks to Major Lynette for my avatar. ~Don't blink. Blink and you're dead. Don't look away. quote SkybladeA simple solution to that is having your character level up a few levels as a Fighter or someone else with a high attack growth. Also, if you invest in a Cannoneer, a combination of Recharge and MP Shell will greatly increase your amount of MP. ------------------- ![]() I just want to set you on fire, so I don't have to burn alone;
