Help a New Hunter

So I just started playing this and I know I'm missing some important things that I have to keep in mind throughout the game.

Can you guys list some handy infos that I could use?
Like the infos about the Pokke farm, the training ground, the kitchen, the kitties, upgrading weapons and armors and also tips while on a mission.

Thanks guys, I'd really appreciate the help.

re: Help a New Hunter

Pokke farm is really useful for honey. get the honey producing installations and you can combine honey with potions to get mega potions which are good. It also has spots to get bugs and ores, which is handy.

Training ground is useful to practice with different weapon types. Also, beat every monster with every weapon to unlock an immensly hard monster - black fatalis.

you can eat food at the kitchen. eating the right combinations will give you boosts and benefits for a single battle only.

kitties work in your kitchen, the more the better. the maximum amount is 5.

weapons and armours are so important. choose your favourite weapon type by trying them at the training school then work on crafting better and better ones. Its a good idea to get battle armour as soon as you can because of the defense and the skills (nearly all armours give skills. To ensure skills, wear a complete set of armour, dont mix and match.)

re: Help a New Hunter

If you are going to use weapons such as any kind of sword, hammer, or (gun)lance, make sure to bring whetstones b/c these weapons lose their sharpness and do less damage as they become dull. Bows and bowguns do not require whetstones, though. Definitely bring plenty of healing type potions to refill your green bar(your health) as well as stamina recovering items such as well-done steaks b/c weapon usage and blocking, and running use stamina(your yellow bar). When going up against a foe, find out what their weakness is and use a weapon they are weak too. Like if something is weak to fire, then get a fire-type longsword, or a fire-type greatsword, bow, etc.... Also, if you are going against a foe that uses lightning attacks, then make yourself a set of armor that resists thunder. Same goes for a foe that attacks with say water. Make a water resistant armor. You can check these resistances of armor pieces if you look at the details on the armor piece before you make it. If it says you have a positive resistance to that element attack then you are good. If the number is negative, then you don't use that armor when going against a foe that uses that kind of element attack. As you go along you will be able to create decorations that you can attach in the empty slots on your armor and weapons to increase different things like thunder resistance, increased defense, anti-theft, etc... If you go to the top of the forum, there are some very useful links where I found tons of useful info to help me progress. The links are entitled "FAQs/Guides" and "wiki". I also found that is you use this forums search engine for particular details, I find all kinds of good stuff. Just type in something like say...Trenya and see what comes up. Hope all this helps and good luck!

PS: Don't get in any hurry with this game. It is very very very long and takes awhile but well worth it. I just passed the 300hr mark yesterday. My wife just laughed at me and I think she rolled her eyes! lol I can't help it. I love this game! If you need anything else, just ask us. We will help if possible or at least hopefully send you in the right direction.

re: Help a New Hunter

Gee, thank you guys.
Btw, how do I get lots of Pokke Points?
Also, what's the best weapon to use?

I used the bone sword before and when I raised my rank, I changed to Giaprey dual blades.

re: Help a New Hunter

Where are you at in the village quests and I will tell you the best place to get pokke points.

There is no best weapon in this game, The best weapon is the weapon type you can use, but I do suggest you try using all weapons, then pick the ones you can use. Otherwise you will get bored of the game faster just using one weapon type.

re: Help a New Hunter

Great swords and hammers are very powerful, but slow. Dualswords and sword and shield are quick but not so strong. Longswords are a handy balance between speed and strength. Lances are slow and unwieldy, but have a very tough shield. Gunlances are much the same, but come with a shelling ability. Hunting horns are like hammers, but can play music that gives you boosts in anything from running speed, to element resistance, to auto tracker. Bowguns give you a variety of bullet types. Light bowguns are fast moving and quick to reload, heavy bowguns are more like hand cannons. The bow is a fast, flexible weapon that is good for any situation, although it generally has less choice for ammo. There's a weapon here for anyone, you just have to find the one for you. If youre lucky, you'll be good with everything!

re: Help a New Hunter

The usual fastest way to get pokke points is powderstone farming. Just choose the highest volcano gathering you can do, and have skill: backpacker and probably some rations and potion. When you search a pile of rocks in the very top area, there you will eventually pick up a large and very hot rock. Cart that to the Red box in the start, and press O in front of it. Careful to avoid monsters, as even the slightest damage will cause you to drop it and explode, and you move at snail speeds while carrying it. If your stamina drops too far while holding it, you'll drop it. While holding it, it saps your health at a low rate. Good luck, but with Backpacker and Rations you should'nt have too much of a probelm. If you manage to make it to the Red box with some health and press O, you'll recieve 3000 pokke points.

re: Help a New Hunter

Well, if you were expecting a big post describing each weapon type in detail like some of the others in this thread, you'll be disappointed because all I'm going to say is to try all your available options and decide what feels best for you.
