Alternatives to Changeups? |
|
I have noticed that even with the changeup (or circle change or palmball) speed minimized, these pitches (when thrown where they should be thrown) can't really get any faster than 79 to 81 mph (unless you lay off the 'pitch effectiveness' when you activate the pitch but then you lose movement to a degree).
And while I realize it might be perceived as crazy to ask "can you make it faster" or something equivalent, it's not totally out of left field. Realistically a pitcher throwing a 95-97 mph fastball will probably throw a change in the 83-86 range (Jorge de la Rosa and Ubaldo Jimenez come to mind as examples). Granted, the game may not mind a FB/Changeup speed differential of 20+ mph but it bugs me a little. Has anyone tried/had success using another pitch (such as a screwball or sinker or slow 2-seam/RFB) as a 'changeup' alternative but with a more realistic speed differential between it and a fastball of 95+? My guess is that the game won't interpret it correctly but I had hoped to avoid a huge distinction between fastball and changeup speeds for created players. This game is a couple of years old so I may just be better off getting '09 at some point. Does this same curiosity exist for '09's changeup/circlechange/palmball/vulcanchange? Cheers, --RP | |
