Before i say this, i have to say i love the castlevania games!
But Dracula X Chronicles, is crap, it has to be said. the only reason worth buying it is Symphony of the Night, which is available on xbox live anyway, i feel completely ripped off... =[

How did it suck? I am also a fan of the Castlevania games and I enjoyed Dracula X Chronicles very much. I loved the storyline of the game.

What made you dislike it so much?

People aren't used to the difficulty/got used to the SOTN "Metroidvania" style. And to a degree, Rondo of Blood is a victim of its own hype/scarceness.

And really, this is easier than the NES ones (aside from Simon's Quest).

to be honest this is the very first castlevania game i've ever owned..i was planning on returning it to the store because it was pretty ahrd and kinda boring but then i unlocked SOTN..now i think im hooked

It's mostly 5' and 7 that are a pain. SOTN has far more to explore, a much better engine to run on and much more cheese to throw at the enemy, so of course it's going to be more highly regarded.

id have to also agree that im not too impressed with this game. i had an absolute blast with the Nintendo handled ones (Portrait of Ruin, Dawn and Aria of Sorrow and the GBA ones im still working on ), but so far this one doesnt seem as good. the extreme limits placed on your whip is just ridiculous. no diagonal or even vertical whipping? what the hell?

i can go play SOTN on 360 easily enough.

One must remember that this title is a remake of Rondo of Blood where there was no whipping in any direction other than forward. There were extreme limitations in that title also. The remake has stayed true to it's original form.

All early era Castlevania titles are like that.

damn, just bought the game and got my azz kicked badly by death. dracula x chronicles (dxc) sucks. the only reason i bought it was because of sotn. it's like konami purposely put dxc in there just to pissed off gamers. and it is working so far.

for me every castlevania games are good, well almost mostly of them are really hard which is for me makes the game more fun and challenging.
