	To your inventory... Presumably, you mean when you get arrested, and in which case, the stolen goods get added to an evidence chest in the prison which can be lock-picked and therefore you can retrieve the items you stole... -------------------

	So therefore you can't get them back... Well, I'm not certain, but like you said, no prisons.. So there's no evidence chests. So it's not recoverable.. All important or quest items aren't stolen though so they can't be reposessed by the guards, otherwise your progress could be hindered.. -------------------

	If you choose go to jail in SI your sent to a dungeon. 	You can just sleep it off though, which presumably is what he did, as if you fight through the dungeon, the chest is blatantly obvious, so I presumed he didn't do that... -------------------

	There may be no jail, but there IS a prison. A little above Longtooth Camp. I believe it's called Aichan.
