re: RIP Tommy Burns

This is terrible news, I knew he was battling cancer, but I didn't expect him to pass away.

RIP Tommy Burns

re: RIP Tommy Burns

R.I.P Tommy Burns, my condolences to the Burns' family.

Devastated by this news, I now don't the heart to rub in the UEFA Cup loss at Rangers fans.

re: RIP Tommy Burns

I was absolutely gutted by this news.

Burns was manager when I first started to get into football.

Strachan summed it up perfectly, as a player and a manager he was ace but when it came to being a gentleman and all round "good guy" he was always top of the league.

Considering Burns was part of the 87/88 squad it would be so fitting if we won the league for him.

R.I.P.

re: RIP Tommy Burns

I would assume they would have the funeral procession go past Celtic Park seeing as it was such a big part of his life. I would assume it would be on Sunday.

Personally, I'd like to see them rename the new training facilities after him.

tommy burns funeral arrangements

Newsroom Staff
The funeral of Tommy Burns will take place on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at St. Mary's Church, Abercromby Street, Calton, Glasgow. The Requiem Mass will begin at 12noon.

St. Mary's is a parish which Tommy was extremely close to personally. St. Mary's Church Hall was also the birthplace of Celtic Football Club, when in November 1887, Brother Walfrid along with others discussed the establishment of a football club to feed the poor in the East End of Glasgow.

Unfortunately, due to restrictions on seating at the church, access to the service will be predominantly for family, friends and club representatives and there will only be very limited public access.

Following the Requiem Mass, the funeral cortege will pass by the Main Stand at Celtic Park where supporters will have the opportunity to pay their respects to Tommy Burns.
Source. I personally, would skip school to go to Celtic Park on Tuesday.
