He plays high up the wing or as a Striker.

When I used to watch Boyd for Stevenage his role was either a bit like Modric plays now for us, starts on the left but will cut in and support the strikers or starting as an attacker.

Only a few midfielders (particularly central) can get away with having little pace, like Scholes. Pace for a centre midfielder is more important than in any other position imo. I think a good example is Tom Huddlestone. Has all the technical ability to be a top class player but so often he gets beat for pace and that contributes to a lot of teams getting the ball to the strikers against us and it's been particularly evident this season. And that's whats stopping him from being regarded a top class player for me.

I couldn't disagree more. I can't remember the last pacey central midfielder to play for Fulham. Honestly. Our first choice pairing of Murphy and Etuhu is anything but pacey, but they're still blinding in the middle of the park.

Nah Beckham never had pace, even in England.

As I remember, Benitez tried to offload him to Fenerbahce (lol @ hindsight) so he could buy Barry...and Alonso has wanted to leave ever since.

Man Utd linked with some striker named Luis Suarez at Ajax...I'm somewhat discouraged since either going to be a new Ruud or a new Afonso Alves, Kezman or Huntelaar. The latter seems more likely.

To be fair Alonso had been under-performing since his first season here.

I've read hes quite good. A proper keeper apparantly...commands well as well as good shot-stopping abilities.

I would go for Manuel Neuer over Alder.

Apparently Neuer's club won't sell him, he's a fan's favourite as he supported the club since he was a kid and he's not that keen on leaving either.

Akinfeev would be a good signing I think, looks more solid every time I see him. Still have reservations over some dodgyness at Euro 2008 though.

Luis Suarez, can't see him being that good and I don't think we'd buy him. I think he's just one of the seemingly hundreds of attacking players and keepers we're being linked with.

Adler, Silva & Villa will do me Papers are saying lately Villa would prefer us to Chelsea but I can only see him staying in Spain, I still think Silva will join eventually, Schalke don't want to sell Neuer, it seems were not that interested in Akinfeev so Adler seems more likely.
