Bollocks, he even had to stretch his right leg out so that it made contact with Gomes.
What's bollocks? He blatantly would have made contact if he'd kept going.
But that doesn't mean that Gomes wouldn't of got the ball though....

That was meant to Robs post, didn't see you'd posted.

And yeah, he may well have made contact, but you can't referee purely on if's.

The ball was past Gomes.

He nudged the ball past Gomes and went down, making contact on the way. If he'd nudged the ball past Gomes and kept running he'd have collided with Gomes' arms/head anyway.

I can't see alot wrong with Defoe's challenge tbh. I can see how it could be interpreted as deliberate, but the ball wasn't exactly yards away from him.

If Bent had kept his feet he still probably would have been fouled, it just wouldn't have been as clear to the referee as he made it out to be.

/Devil's advocate

One way of looking at it. You want players to be completely honest but we're never going to get that. Everyone wants to win, whatever it takes.
I'm only trying to see all sides of the argument rather than focusing on one part of it. He was blatantly going down early, therefore it isn't a penalty - as he's dived. He hasn't tried to reach the ball and been denied by Gomes, he's decided not to try and reach the ball.

I do think Gomes still would have brought him down though. The one earlier in the game was a penalty.

And DjEd do you have to be so abrasive!

It's more annoying than just diving willy nilly. When you dive, you're doing so because you're trying to cheat to get a decision.

In those situations, there's a great chance that you would win the penalty anyway, so to cheat in that situation is even more annoying.

Justice was done when Gomes saved the penalty. *bleep* off Darren Bent you shit *bleep*. No one cares about you.

Huddlestone's goal, WOW.

Yeah I agree with that sentiment. It seems to show more ingrained cheating in the player when their thought is to go down when they hadn't needed to in order to get the decision.

It's a strange thing though. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I don't think Bent has ever done anything like this before. Why suddenly start?

I'm pretty sure everyone on MOTD agreed that it was a penalty and were more so questioning the referees decision to only give Gomes a yellow card. Not that those mugs' opinion counts for much of course.

Defoe's a little *bleep*ing shit tbh, talented player but an absolute wanker imo.

I don't know what's gotten into Defoe. This season his petulant side has really come out.

Not at all. They got it spot on tbh. The first incident was a penalty, not given. The second was a pathetic dive from Bent that the referee gobbled up. So it sort of ironed itself out, but justice was done when Bent missed a penalty in front of the Spurs fans

Bent may get a lot of goals, but he really is a terrible football player.

As for Defoe, I know he has a petulant side that he needs to sort, but can he really be blamed for the Gordon thing? I mean as a sriker why the hell shouldn't he go for the ball?

Remember When Defoe's pen got saved in the 89th minute in front of the West Ham Fans .
That was such a good match despite being 1-1 and Robbie Keane's worst dive attempt ever.

West ham v Everton.... I'm gonna say we'll lose because it worked last time. I win would be supercalifraj though
