Because it's better to stand on your feet and make the tackle.
Surely that applies to most tackles? If you can win the ball in a standing tackle, I can't see why you wouldn't. Carsley however, was coming in from the side IIRC and it would've been way hard to make a standing tackle like that. In addition, it was a last-ditch tackle, he was trying to get the ball out asap, he wouldn't have covered the ground and pulled off the tackle in a standing position in time.

quote Johnny Boi
Every season United go into nowadays nobody really knows the starting eleven, especially in midfield. I still don't think Ferguson knows at the moment his best first eleven for this season, with lots of other clubs (Liverpool) it's pretty much nailed on. Guess that just demonstrates the difference in squads.
I'd say 7/11 of the team is picked in 4-4-2. The defence picks itself and Rooney + Berbatov are upfront whilst the def. starting midfielder is Fletcher. When SAF plays 4-5-1, 4-3-3 etc. he tends to drop Berbatov though.

I don't blame the ref one bit tbh, my first thought was a clear penalty, i even shouted at my tv at Carsley
haha yeah. I was absolutely adament it was a pen. Cant blame the ref.

Jimbo made a good point though. This week I cant nor wont condem Ngog, but next week I'll be calling someone everthing under the sun for doing the same against us. Until a rule is brought in next season, where everyone gets the same punishment, then things wont change..
And neither of you are refs(or are you?). You aren't paid to get it right, he is. Game affecting call that he got wrong? Championship for him IMO.
Behave yourself will you. He never had the luxury of 20 different camera angles before making his decision. Near everyone thought it was a stone wall penalty in real time. He was conned. Nothing he can do about it.

this is what really pisses me off.

if he isn't good enough for the premiership why should the championship be lumbered with him? or league 1. or league 2 for that matter.

Hilarious ain't it.

Same with how you're allowed terraces in League One and Two but not in the top two divisions. As if fans of lower league clubs aren't as important and it's okay for them to risk their lives on "deadly" terraces.

He's an idiot for making that sort of challenge in the box anyhow.
Of course he is yeah, trying to prevent a goal by attempting a tackle is totally idiotic, he should have just let him shoot or square it.

As for N'Gog's ability argument, Sinama-Pongolle v.2

N'Gog's ability is nothing like Pongolle's was.
Aye, its fuppin worse.

About N'Gog... I actually don't think he's as bad as he's made out to be. He kind of gets used as another thing to throw at Rafa because he's "shit" but he's not that bad. He's far, far better than Voronin (which isn't that hard) but I think he gets unfair criticism.

This is purely about his football ability, not his cheating. Although everyone dives now it seems, so there's no point making an example out of him for that either.

There's less fans down there so i see no problem, you also have to think that it's cheaper having terracing on some of the ground than seating.

N'Gog's not bad, the problem is he's 2nd choice striker at Liverpool when really he should be 4/5th choice.

This.

N'gog's actually a decent potential imo, but is he significantly better than any of Sturridge, Macheda, Welbeck and Vela so that if he went to Chelsea, United or Arsenal he would be above them in the pecking order (with them all being 3rd/4th/5th choice young strikers)? I can't say he is tbh.

It may well be that in a 4-4-2 the majority of the team is decided, but the flexibility of the United team is that quite a few formations can be used fairly effectively with changes being made. I wouldn't be so sure that the defence picks itself anymore either, definitely an argument to be heard that Evans should be starting as well as maybe Rafael and Brown at right back, as good as O'Shea has been for a season and a half.

Id consider Kuyt to be Liverpools 2nd choice striker and N`Gog 3rd because if all our wingers and Gerrard are fit and Torres is injured. Then Kuyt will deputise up front.

re: Barclays Premier League: Round 12

Fergie thinks he can mould a squad of players together and have specific line-ups against specific teams. Thats probably why we've done relatively well since 2007 because we've been doing exactly that. We can change it so much if its not happening in a game too.

So instead of getting a steady midfield, we have an interchangable midfield machine and everyone plays a part somewhere in the season...like Hargo will always be likely to start if its a European game or a 3-man central midfield is required and Scholes will play against the lesser teams to suit his current style of play.

Fairly big if that over the course of a season though.

Tbh, it should be full ko. As evans got a another kick to the stomach at the end of it. He literally did make a scissor kick, lol.

Also, is nothing not being done about it? I'm surprised. If it was Mourinho, he would have made a huge fuss.
