Unfortunately, a good amount of those RPGs are Square-owned, and they would much rather release them via their remakes than on the VC. Hopefully, the continued success of the VC will make them change their minds. ------------------- [Arc Rise Fantasia | Mega Man 9 | Fragile | Captain Rainbow | Oneechanbara | World Destruction]

I don't know why they wouldn't. A game released on the VC is almost pure profit. The game has already been made and they don't need to put it on a CD or cartridge. -------------------

In response to the thread title of "Is There Any Hope For a Classic Nintendo RPG To reach the Surface Of The VC?", there's already Paper Mario and Breath of Fire II, both of which are amazing... ------------------- ![]()

quote Master of the VGThey don't want to release it on the Virtual Console because they can make much more money remaking them on the DS. It isn't pure profit, but the revenue is much higher and apparently, they make more profit despite having to develop the games. They've already released Final Fantasy III and Dragon Quest IV (in Japan) and are currently working on Final Fantasy IV, Dragon Quest V and Dragon Quest VI remakes. Perhaps their importing some resources from their DS-exclusive FF and DQ games to make them more cost-effective, but they seem to prefer remaking games than releasing them on the Virtual Console, so I'm pretty sure they are making more profit off of the remakes. It would be nice to see Chrono Trigger on the Virtual Console, it doesn't seem like Square is remaking that. There are a couple of RPGs, but the only two notable ones seem to be Paper Mario and BoFII, as Enth said. Hopefully, Mother 2 (Earthbound) will be released here. Perhaps even the original Mother, since it was translated but never released in North America, could be released here like Super Mario Bros 2 was. It's not like they have to do anything, it was ready for retail. -------------------

The VC is the "Virtual Console", a download service where you can download classic games currently spanning 7 different consoles for a few dollars each (currently, I believe there are around 180 games, and usually we have 3 or 4 games added week). When you connect your Wii to the internet, just choose the Wii Shop Channel and go to the Virtual Console section, The rest is pretty straightforward. Browse the library, find a game you want and purchase Wii Points to download the game. -------------------

One often forgotten RPG I'd like to see again on the wii is the Soul Blazer series, namely Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma. While I liked the other RPGs on the SNES, I like the storyline behind the SoulBlazer series the best. But unfortunately it was an enix game. I actually haven't seen this series resurrected since it's release on the SNES, not even a GBA or a DS rerelease. It's unfortunate, they could easily put out a compendium release on the DS or whatnot. Not to mention the fan site terraearth.com seems to be down. Such is life.
