Anyways, what about a turn based rpg? Breath of Fire 2, thats a great SNES rpg.

Hey, to be fair, I tried as hard as possible to convince myself to like it. Then the constant brainwashing I gave myself faded away, little by little.


So what makes Breath of fire 2 good. List the bad (ALL OF IT) before the good.

Well its a turn based rpg, so all of the pros and cons of turn based rpgs are here.

-Random encounters
-Sometimes goals are unclear
-Some characters are unlikable
-Main character is mute
-if you dont train, it can be pretty hard
-exp is divided, I hate it when games do that, but thats me

Pros
-auto battle feature so you arent constatly tapping A
-your main character can turn into dragon, too cool
-4 characters at a time
-no need to play the first one to play this one
-leveling up is just plain fun
-lots of mini games
-light hearted but knows how to be serious

Tbh, I havent beaten the game yet, but so far the plot seems intresting.


Also, Iam getting pissed off at how you keep calling classic games crap. Its ok not to like them, its not ok to be disrespectful, quit it.

Sorry. My opinion. If they happen to be old, oh well. I guess I shouldn't had called mario brothers 1 crap, because I felt it was okay.

Theres one character named Sten, hes a monkey, hes a perverted monkey..... do I really need to explain that one?

Also, as for unclear goals, theres one part where I was stuck and didnt know where to go. Well if I didnt use a guide I dont think I would have figured out that I to use monkey boy's arms to reach across this chasm to the other continent. Some characters have skills that can be used outside of battle, one can shoot his bow, Sten can use his arms, among other things. Another part is after fighting in a boss battle against a girl named Katt, poison darts start shooting out and your supposed to push her out of the way. First time I didnt know this so when I had to fight the next boss, she couldnt help out cause of the darts, if you save her, she can help you with the fight, and its tough without her.

Oh, and I understand its your opinon, but being rude about it is unacceptable. Its ok not to like it, so long as you arent being a douche about it, you get me? How would you feel if someone started calling Zelda games peices of shit? Iam sure that would piss you off. Capiche?

Wouldn't care so much. I have friends that hate the type of games I play. Also I didn't really feel like I was insulting them. I said one world and left it at that.




Hey I've been looking up BoF 2 footage on youtube.... Do you have any other games you wanna recommend?

StarTropics is a pretty fun game. Its an NES title, its hard as balls though, its also alot like Zelda.

Gunstar Heroes is the shit, blasting shit up is always fun.

Alien Soilder is another good shooter, but the biggest problem with it is getting used to the awkward controls, eventually youl get them and its gonna play very smoothly.

Beyond Oasis is a nice adventure game. Iam stuck in it at the moment, but thats just cause Iam lazy havent bothered to look for a way to beat it, lol. Its good, the fighting system is fun, zelda-ish aswell. Very pretty graphics.


Btw, STAY AWAY FROM SWORD OF VERMILION! This game isnt bad perse, but its just so *bleep*ing average in every way, its like is not even worth existing for being so mediocre.

Neither earthbound nor Super Mario rpg are out. A big ass hell no to Kid Icarus. I heard alot of people like it, I have no idea why. The background is completely black, its ridiculously hard, you never have enough hearts to buy anything good at the store, your little arrows dont shoot far enough, uggh, is a huge pain. As for S&P, never played it, but heard many good things, in fact its made by Treasure, same people who made Alien Soilder and Gunstar Heroes.

So should I wait for SMRPG and EB, or buy sin & P?

Seriously, get Breath of Fire II.

The variety in appearence / personality of each playable character makes them total unique. Some are crapper than others but thats true of all RPG's right? I love almost every one of them. And the main character is bad-ass what with his arsenal of dragon transformation abilities...The storyline is really deep, and one I thought was very interesting.

The out of battles graphics are okay, and the in battle graphics still look awesome IMO. The musics alrightish, and most of all, it will take you freakin ages to finish. Probably over 20. Maybe even 30. Or maybe more! Its very long...

And I love it. It's one of my favourite games ever, although I have the GBA version which is slightly superior, because the graphics looks a little bit better, and it doesn't have some the spelling mistakes that, regretably, the SNES version does have.

And to be honest I never had a problem with the "goals are unclear" thing. It was all set up pretty well I thought. I also quite like that the main character is mute...And this is probably one RPG where I cannot get enough of the random encounters, because overall this is just an awesomely fun game...

If you liked Golden Sun (as do I btw) I see no reason why you would not like Breath of Fire 2. Hell it might inspire you to get Breath of Fire 3 and 4 for the PS1.

There is more than one? Cool. But I am not buying a PS1 to get that game.
