The Extractors

Is it just me, or hitting an enemy in the air hurt them more than on the ground? Even with no equipped elements, a jump manuever will issue more damage.

I speak of the jump charges. Press X, and then hit the triangle to extract your prey from the floor a bludgeon them in the sky until they shuffle off this earthly coil.

These "Extractors" are a godsend for a team of weak warriors trying to level up.

Stun an officer with a Technique character's parry, and then switch over to an Extractor and take them away. Or just finesse it, and catch the general on the fly. Even pick them off their horse as they gallop in for the attack.

The only downside would be that, there is a down, as in gravity. You will be quite vulnerable if you miss your target, or even if you do catch him/her, you might have to worry about wha awaits you in the vicious crowd below.

What I want to know is, is this an unfair advantage? Do you use the Extractors much? Do you have a favorite Extractor, or list whom you found to have this talent (Cao Pi, Zhao Yun, Gan Ning, etc.)?

re: The Extractors

I spammed the hell out of them on Normal/Hard mode. Mostly Yue Ying and I tried doing it with Zhou Tai but a little less succesfully. With Yue Ying the enemy bounces so you can chain them together until the officer dies. Also you can "extract" during an allied officer juggle as well. I put Air on all my extractors and they coudl usually kill generals in one or two uses. However, on Chaos mode it tends to never work and when you fall back down you get screwed.

re: The Extractors

Found that happening pretty hardcore on Cao Pi's. Though, Misashi's STTT seems to do a heap of damage, instandly killing an officer with ease.

re: The Extractors

Same with Nobunaga. But I thought SXH was just refrencing those with Jump Triangles.

re: The Extractors

its a jump charge. Press X and then Triangle with sertain characters will coment an in-air-charge attack, none of the SW characters has this ability, they'll just smash into the ground. But the sw characters have their STTT. Some characters who can do this jump charge is

  • Yue Ying
  • Zhou Tai
  • Zhao Yun
  • Yukimura Sanadas r1 special is actually an attack of this kind
  • Cao pi
  • Xiahou Dun

re: The Extractors

I use it on maybe normal and easy but rarely hard and DEFINITELY not Chaos. The falling time is enough time for peons and generals to start smacking you in the air. Also, aiming it can take a little bit of practice considering factors like getting someone else by accident or them blocking.

re: The Extractors

thats true Kakusei, but when you know your enemy will die off the attack and there are no peons around the falling time is safe. Also by using on of the characters with the Charge-Orbit before swapping and using the attack is very effective (preferly, Zhuge Liangs (breaks guard, stun) or Pang Tong's (Makes the enemy fly up in air))

re: The Extractors

When youre on hard/chaos, it is very rare that you will see a lone general.

Any one noticed that jump triangle works best with people that have long weps and not short. I use them alot just because i like to see the enemy helpless.

If you're playing right, then killing a general shouldn't be any different than killing a peon. In all honesty, I'm more worried about the peons than the generals.

yes, starting off, on normal difficulty, extracting is REALLY useful. But on Chaos its useless. You can only use it on generals and 1) if the general is in a crowd then you need to be crowd clearing and the general will be dead before the peons. Also if you do use it, liek kakusei has said, you fall back down into a pit of death and 2) if he's alone, who cares. just flick him over, he's not threat and definetly not worth the effort of timing an extraction right. Plus in most cases, if you break his block you might as well finsih the combo and kill him instead of stopping to jump and extract.

Indeed, I found it pretty wierd how easy the generals are, and how annoying the Peons are.

re: The Extractors

haha! Guan Yu has a bad habit of juggling dead people. (just use his SSSSST, followed by his musou, and after it...) you'll end up juggling the people you just killed when starting on your next combo, its funny seeing how many hits you can get by using that combination. Guan Yu's jump charge is a half-way extracting ability, he first hits the enemy up in the air, before smashing then down to the ground again. quite usefull character! By juggling dead people you never know wether or when you have killed the general.
