Need help connecting to wireless router. |
|
My wireless network is on WEP since WAP didn't work but now I think it's something totally different.
When I do everything on auto and set the wireless up, it keeps giving me the can't obtain IP error. I disabled the security and it connects fine. Once I turn the security on it doesn't connect. I'm stumped. Can someone help me out with this? Thanks in advance. Oh, I get 100% on the connectivity. ------------------- I'M A SPEEDBALLER.

Not quite sure if this is what you meant, but by putting your router into WEP mode, you can no longer put everything into automatic mode because it's now a protected WEP enabled network. WEP requires a pass-key to log onto that network.
Once a wep key is enabled, the only systems able to log into the network without a WEP key entry are those that are directly (not wirelessly) connected to the modem or router with a cat-5 cable (standard ethernet cable). You'll have to copy down the WEP key, and then manually enter it into the PS3's network configuration settings. It'll test the connection soon after, and should be okay if the code is correct. ------------------- ![]() | |
