Not by everyone. I'd say BlackWarGreymon and Cannondramon are among the best.

maybe for style, but for power, there are three '3rd-level magas', so to speak (For instance, Wargreymon is first mega, then omnimon is his digivolve and therefore second mega, and he kinda digivolves into Imperialdramon PM and therefore is 3rd mega...) - so incredibly powerful they can destroty all but the most powerful boss digimon in one hit. In this game they are Diaboromon, Imperialdramon PM and Beelzemon
Also, getting I-dramon PM on one rookie, with Diaboromon on another rookie, will enable you to DNA Dgivolve into AncientGreymon, who is amazingly powerful in every way

The "Final Three" in other words. They're not necessarily as capable of defeating Digimon quiuckly as you're saying. If they are, so are plenty of other Digimon. BlackWarGreymon is capable of the same thing. So is Cannondramon. So can Gallantmon. So can MegaGargomon. So are both the other Imperialdramons. So can other Digimon. Beelzemon is over-rated, it's better to have MaloMyotismon or Gallantmon. Diaboromon, you may be better off using one of the two Diigmon you need for him. Imperialdramon PM is only useful against Dark-element Digimon. For the part of the game where you're most likely to get him, Zanbamon and Armageddemon. There aren't many.

The ones i've used most are BlackWargreymon, Seraphimon and Grankuwagamon, which most people probably don't agree with but they make a good enough team for me, to be honest with you the final three make things too easy, you don't need all of that power, I find.

On my first game, I went the whole way through with just agumon, defeating galacticmon with a lvl 60+ agumon (lvl 99 Omnimon), lvl 12 renamon and lvl 6 monmon :laugh@ I don't know why people bother even training 3 people, unless you want the epic items

I'm Pretty sure it was Agumon, Veemon and Monmon/Guilmon.

I might be wrong but I think that would be it.

Agumon (Omnimon), Kotemon (Diaboromon) and Veemon (Imperialdramon PM) is probably the easiest option. It isn't worth it, though. Get Omnimon with Veemon, if you don't like him, keep going to Imperialdramon PM.

it's easy though, when you go into a battle with a rookie, swaphim with a mega first, win the battle and your lvl 1 rookie instantly gets to lvl 5 or 6 after one battle

And do that to get four Rookies up to the required levels? That would take weeks, or days at least. You'd also need to revive the Rookie.

oh, and omnimon is NOT the cream of the crop, the 3 best are Imperialdramon, Beelzemon and Diaboromon in this game don't know why, considering the only one of those who is actually amazingly powerful in the cartoon is I-Dramon PM - diaboromon and beelzemon are both defeated by other megas - i think diaborom shoudl have been able to digivolve into Armageddamon TBH, that would have been awesome

I do agree it would be cool to have Armaggeddemon as a partner, but if you consider you start with BK Wargreymon who's already tough, who then digivolves to Diaaboromon making him tougher, and then again into Armaggeddemon he would be way too strong, honestly.

that's true - I just find it a bit wierd that in the cartoons, omnimon is stronger than diaboromon but in this game, diaboromon is one of the final 3 but omnimon is not
