A spin-off of the ultimate control moves, I would like to see a similar thing implemented, but for punching. It may sound weird and confusing, but anyone who has played Fight Night Round 3 will know exactly what I mean. It revolves around using the right analog stick. It works like this, say you want to do a straight jab, you push up diagonally on the right analog stick, up left for a jab with your left hand, and up right for a jab with your right hand. Then say you want to do a right hook, you push the analog stick to the right, and then move it up to the top, just like the motion your arm would make, and the same thing for a left hook, but with the left side of the analog stick. Upper cuts can then be done by pushing diagonally down on the analog stick, and rotating it up to the top, in respective directions for respective hands. Power punches can be done by winding the stick back and then forward. The old strike button will cover the other strikes, headbuts, knees to the mid section, straight kicks and mule kicks. Really, I just want to have total control over the hand-to-hand combat, as a lot of hardcore matches are fought out like brawls, rather than using submissions and suplexes. Some people may like the quick moves of SD! Vs. RAW 2007, but personally I thought they were pointless. However, the quick moves could be retained when your opponent isn't standing upright. Grapples and all that would remain the same, and this control scheme would be optional, but I would like to see more control over certain aspects of the match, such as punching. Thoughts?

Although personally, this idea doesn't appeal to me, I actually would try this out, and attempt to get better at this with practice, rather than just stick with the basic controls from this year.. I think it would give a lot more control and more choice, but I think the system would be slightly too complicated what with everything else that's new this year..

In my opinion it would make the game too realistic, which is bad, it would be difficult playing the game, its not really needed, although the Wii version could work with that idea. Other than that I don't agree with this suggestion.

It's a pretty interesting idea to say the least. I actually like the idea. It would allow us more control over punches which is a good thing. Since it would be optional I don't really see why it couldn't happen. Good idea, HBK619.

Hey HBK 619 Couldn't you just do those boxing moves in create mode.

HBK619 meant that the user himself could control every punch using the analog stick, If I understood correctly.

quote PedigreeYes, that's exactly it. Then the strike button would be used for kicks and other strikes, but I would like to see at least an option to have punches mapped to the right analog stick, as it worked extremely well in FNR3, and what better place to steal a punching mechanic from that a game where the focus is just punching. ------------------- | |
