Oakland Raiders [Rebuilding a Franchise]

The Raiders, currently, have three Super Bowl championships under their belt. The Raiders first won a Super Bowl in '76 against the Vikings. In '78 and '79, the Raiders didn't even make it to the playoffs; but they made an impact in '80 when they beat the Eagles at Super Bowl XV. Right after that win, in '81, they were back to not even making it into the playoffs.

However, in '82, the Raiders relocated and renamed to the Los Angeles Raiders. After losing to the Jets in the '82 playoffs, the Raiders came back in '83 to beat the Redskins 38-9 at Super Bowl XVIII. However, in 1983, that would be the last Super Bowl they won.

The Raiders, once again, relocated back to become the Oakland Raiders once again in '95. Things didn't start to look up for the Raiders until 2000, when they finally got back to the playoffs after 6 long years, but fell short and lost to the Ravens in the conference championship. In 2001, Raiders got back into the playoffs via wildcard when they beat the Jets, but shortly lost the divisional playoffs to the Patriots.

In 2002, however, they Raiders finally made it to the playoffs after 19 very long years, only to fall short and lose to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; 48-21. Since then, the Raiders haven't been into the playoffs, and things aren't looking much better after only winning 2 games in the 2006 season.

Will the Raiders be able to make it back up to being a great team like they once were?

re: Oakland Raiders [Rebuilding a Franchise]

I just got done with training camp, and just simmed the preseason. We ended up with a 0-4 record, which is good, in a way. Raiders went 4-0 in the 2006 preseason, and only won two games in the regular season, so maybe this is a sign.

Sadly, I have to go get some lunch and then goto work, so I won't have week one up until after I get out, which will be at 8:45. So expect the first game sometime tonight. Maybe even week 2 if I have enough time. I'll be playing on All-Pro, by the way, if it matters any.

Detroit Lions @ Oakland Raiders
25-29

• 1st Quarter
49 yead field goal by Janikowski
13 yard pass from Russell to Porter (XP Good)
53 yard field goal by Janikowski

• 2nd Quarter
14 yard pass from Kitna to Johnson (XP Good)
3 yard run by Jones (XP Good)

53 yard field goal by Janikowski

• 3rd Quarter
51 yard field goal by Hanson

• 4th Quarter
45 yard field goal by Janikowski
70 yard run by Jones (2P Good)
76 yard pass from Russell to Bryant (XP Good)
22 yard field goal by Janikowski

----------
Key Players
----------

JaMarcus Russell (107.8 rating, 204 yds., 2 TD., 13 comp., 23 att.)
LaMont Jordan (71 yds., 28 att., 1 fumb.)
Antonio Bryant (3 rec., 77 yds., 1 TD., 61 YAC.)
Jerry Porter (2 rec., 46 yds., 1 TD., 24 YAC.)
Stuart Schweigert (8 tack., 1 int.)
Daylon McCutcheon (5 tack., 2 sack, 1 int.)
Michael Huff (3 tack., 1 int.)
Nnamdi Asomugha (3 tack., 2 int.)

----------
Summary
----------

Overall, I'd say this was a really good, close, game. Throughout the entire game, Lions had a lot of turnovers. We got five interceptions, and recovered one fumble, but we didn't capitalize much. Thank God for our kicker. It was 19-17 in the 4th until the Lions got a 70 yard TD run and managed to get a 2-point conversion. However, we came back; in a 4th down conversion, Russell passed to Bryant, who ran 61 yards after catching, missing two tackles in the process. Our defense did great, but it should be an interesting game next week against the Broncos.

Fabian Washington (3 tack., 2 int.)
Kirk Morrison (1 tack., 1 int.)
Nnamdi Asomugha (1 tack., 2 int.)

----------
Summary
----------

This was a great game in my opinion. I had a really hard time running the ball, especially with Lamont Jordan. I took him out in the 1st quarter because the first play he made was for about 3 yards, but he fumbled the ball, and Denver recovered. So that's when I put in Rhodes, and it made a big difference. I'm just going to trade Jordan for a first round pick or something, possibly. Or maybe work to improve my O-Line, because running it up the gut is pretty much impossible. Running it to the outside isn't much easier, though. Hester made a big difference as well, he's a great returner, and in training camp next season, I'll do drills with him to improve his catching, because right now, it sucks. Russell did really good too, though. I wasn't expecting him to go 15/19.

Sam Williams (4 tack., 2 sack.)
Kirk Morrison (4 tack., 2 sack.)
Stanford Routt (3 tack., 1 sack., 1 int.

----------
Summary
----------

Fun game, mostly because we pwned, lol. Didn't run as much as I wanted, but meh. I can't write a long summary like last time, so I'll wrap it up. Good game, low-scoring in the first half, but we pretty much exploded in the second half. I'm going to change the difficulty to All-Madden for the next game, these past few games seemed to be too easy; except for the week one game against the Lions.

re: Oakland Raiders [Rebuilding a Franchise]

You might want to change the score from the game against the Broncos. You left it 27-14 in the Browns game.

Nice Franchise diary so far. Keep it up.

Ah, a Raiders Diary. I've been waiting for one of these for a while. Anyway, I really like the diary. You must be really good, because you're winning on All-Pro pretty easily.

Could you explain some of the moves you made and why...releasing two rookies?

re: Oakland Raiders [Rebuilding a Franchise]

In the 2001 game agianstd the Pats if it wasnt for the tuck rule raiders would have won.

If you want to improve YOUR franchise get an o-line. It wont seem like it will help much but it will.
