¿Are Gwendolyn's wings real?

I know it's kind of a stupid question, but ¿does she actually have wings or are they a part of her armor?

At the beginning I thought it was part of her armor, but in one cut-scene in Oswald's book, a blue feather from her wings drops in the floor while she is wearing her mother dress, so that leads me to believe that she does have wings.

Now if they are real, and all Valkyries have biological wings, why can't they fly with them instead of only gliding?

re: ¿Are Gwendolyn's wings real?

Hahahah, that's a great question that I was kinda curious on myself. I think that yes they are real. In Gwen's book, Odin threatens to cut off her wings and banish her. She is banished, but as you can see 2 scenes later, she still has those wings. And they look compact enough to fit in a dress. HOWEVER, the blue feather you are refering to could be a metaphysical-turned-physical type thing, as Gwen's conscince is a bluebird, which happens to also have blue feathers.

Gwen and her fellow Valks can't fly (contrary to Norse myths), probably for one of two reasons:
1. Weight distribution. Gwen's bones are solid, thus rendering her too heavy to lift herself with those short wings. Ever seen a human flap with giant man-made wings and it worked? Nope.

2. If Gwen could fly, it would totally screw up the game mechanics!

re: ¿Are Gwendolyn's wings real?

Great explanation Ellimist I guess physics don't apply to fairies, because you can fly freely when playing with Mercedes and she only has 4 small wings (but they aren't "bird" type wings).

About the cut-scene feather, I doubt it's a "metaphysical-turned-physical type thing" because Oswald picks the blue feather up from the floor and everything, although he did see a "imaginary" blue bird in the netherworld I guess I'm not that sure.

I also just rememberd that you can updraft with Gwen and keep gliding forevor. So technically, she can "fly", even if the updraft-then-glide move is even more physically impossible than the whole premise.

re: ¿Are Gwendolyn's wings real?

I think it's not really her wings. She doesn't have any biological wings. I'm sure that it just the part of her armor. Remember that the valkyries in this game are humans race. There are 3 main race in this game: pooka, fairies, and humans.Gwendolyn is a human. Her wings are just the armor that she is a valkyrie. If her wings are real, she is not a human. It's impossible that she could marry a human, Oswald and Gwendolyn's father could have a wife. His wife is human.Velvet,Odin's daughter, she doesn't have any wings. It means that Gwendolyn's wings are just the part of the armor.

We should take into consideration that Odin is about three times taller, and much, much, much bigger than his daughters as well. =/

LOL.

I agree with some of what you said, but your comparing Velvet to Gwen, when they are half sisters. We never meet either of their mothers in the game so it maybe obvious that Velvets mom was human but not Gwen's. Also who says that a Valkyrie cant marry humans? They still have the "mechanics" of a woman, and I dont see and male Valkyries, and I sincerly doubt thye fornicate with themselves to bear children, that just doesnt work. So yes I do belive that Gwen's wings are real.

re: ¿Are Gwendolyn's wings real?

The fact that Velvet doesn't have wings doesn't prove that Gwendolyn's wings aren't real, like Zero and X said, Gwendolyn's mother probably had wings in the first place, unlike Velvet's mother.

And as far as I know Valkyrie can marry humans, it is said in the game that when they don't take part in battle, they are married to humans in order to bear strong children. This isn't an exact quote but it was something like that.

re: ¿Are Gwendolyn's wings real?

Yes thats basically what was said, when Valkyries can no longer do battle, they are married to brave warriors to bear brave children. So yeah, thats a quote from the game itself, your wrong when you said that Valkyries cant bear children withj humans.

But Odin also has wings, right?Well, That's the point that i believe Gwendolyn's wings aren't real. If Odin's wings are real, Velvet should have the wings, isn't it?

re: ¿Are Gwendolyn's wings real?

I agree with tarbucks because if someone marry with the other one with different races, their children should have same "biological things" with their parents, for example Mercedes get married with Ingway.Their children should have at least tiny fairy wings because Mercedes has wings although Ingway doesn't have any wings.

re: ¿Are Gwendolyn's wings real?

Well, genetically speaking, if a redhead and a blonde have children, the children may not even end up with either of those 2 hair colours, because of genes.

So, it depends on if the trait for wings, fairy or norse, is a dominant trait or a recessive trait. Chances are, Velvet simply did not get the trait for wings. If Mercedes and Ingway have 4 children, and wings is dominant, at least 2 should have fairy wings. If it is recessive, then perhaps no one will inherit the trait.

So Saniam, Yngvie and Mercedes children will not simply have tiny wings because one parent had wings and one didn't. Just as if a redhead and a blonde had children, the children wouldn't have half-red hair and half-blonde hair. What a world we would live in if genetics worked like that.
