<sub>You can now! However, this WILL void your warranty. Although, the only real issue with the guitar was the strum bar anyways. Otherwise, its a brilliant guitar mod and I am doing it this summer (With the $200 dollars from birthday).

What you do in this mod is fix the strum bar by changing the strum detectors to a larger, better detector. Both sides are going to be fixed and once more, WILL void your warranty. However, if you already have a GH2 and a GH3 controller and don't use this one ever, why not?

Be extremely careful about modding your Guitar. I ended up breaking mine trying to just simply swap the solo keys, and this mod seems even more complicated. I advise you to be careful and not attempt any modification unless you are sure of what you are doing.

That was more of a general warning to whomever may read, as I was posting my personal experience with modding. Thankfully I have 2 X-Plorers, but my brother sure was pissed.

Uh, an easier way would be to just put tape between the outside padding of the receptors.

I did this, costs me $0.02 and five minutes. Worked like a charm.

Really? You might not have done it right. I know someone else who did it, too, and at first, put the tape in the wrong place.

I did that mod like in January and haven't had a problem since. Strums better than my x-plorer.

How much money do you plan to spend by doing this ?

I might do it this week, if I have $30 to spare left over after today when I get my paycheck. I never use my Rock Band guitar, and the strum bar is the main reason why. I've been using my X-Plorer for awhile now, haven't even touched my RB guitar.

Forgive my ignorance, but what problem is this mod fixing? The guitar not detecting some strums during parts with lots of notes?
