	It is being brought up several times in this thread so I figured I would make a formal request. Since we can no longer 'thumb down' comments and remove them from view- we need some kind of report feature to prevent abuse and flaming in the comments. quote Redemption a "report" feature for truly troublesome posts. A feature of this nature would help situations such as the one involving Hawkman and Gothic Girl from being resolved before they get out of hand. ------------------- _{Thanks Diamondflame for the Christmas Avatar.}

	I think a separate request adds weight to the need for such a feature, and I've instructed tekmo that a report feature is one of our highest priorities as soon as he completes what he's working on. We're thinking of a 2 stage reporting system similar to what the forums currently use, and giving Approvers/Moderators the ability to unreport, and delete reported comments. The tone of some comments completely deviates from the ideals of behaviour that we try to attain on Neoseeker, and I think in the forums it would be alot harder to get away with some of what people are doing on GG, which is another reason I'd like to see not only a reporting feature but an actual active moderation of comments by the community and the Moderators/Approvers. At the same time we want to keep GG comments as open as possible, so working out a balance is going to be a learning process. Its fine to disagree with one another and offer even very critical commentary on something, but it does get taken too far, and its something we are prioritising. ------------------- The further back you can look, the farther ahead you can see. <paraphrased> - Winston Churchill

	_{TBH I felt this was needed on gamegrep for a long time, I felt the thumbs down seemed to be a weak report feature at its core. 	If we cannot go below 0, the how are we going to tell whether or not a comment should be below the viewing threshold and removed from view? Surely the report system wouldn't take its place there would it? We shouldn't have people reporting inane posts just to take them out of view- reported posts should be for rule breaking. Some kind of comment rating system should be used to keep one stupid one-liners or internet memes voted down, (which usually isn't a problem, but still its a step in the direction of self governing that is typical of social news websites. ------------------- _{Thanks Diamondflame for the Christmas Avatar.}
