Question: Why is my approved article going to be removed? |
|
I submitted an article about Scribblenauts yesterday but something strange happened to it. It got approved, but for some reason, it was noted that:
"This news article is going to be removed and comments are not accepted." Why was this done? I mean, the article was already approved. Here's the link to the article: http://www.gamegrep.com/blog/25311-scribblenauts_gameplay_really_is_flawed/

Chances are an approver made a mistake and a mod caught it and deleted it because they thought it shouldn't have been approved for whatever reason. I'm not sure who did it, but I'll try to find out why it was deleted for you.

It was removed because it wasn't gaming news or provided anything of use other than saying "Hah, we were right".

RabidChinaGirl approved it; Akira disagreed with its approval and removed it. I'd have to side with him on this one -- reading the post, it's not a substantial article, and more or less flaming within a blog post. That said, Akira should have explained why it was being removed -- it's mostly useless otherwise and just upsets people.

But it falls squarely in the "blog" category. These "blog" posts can be in the form of commentary and such.

i.e. "an expression of opinion." http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/commentary i.e. "anything serving to illustrate a point, prompt a realization, or exemplify." Furthermore, the post was originally approved.

That doesn't give you a guarantee to post absolutely any opinion for us to approve here. Your post was more suited to a forum or article comment than a blog -- that's why blogs are blogs and comments are comments.
Yes. And this is a community, and in any community there will be discrepancies of opinion from time to time. This message was edited by chautemoc on Sep 22 2009.

re: Question: Why is my approved article going to be removed? |
quote mikegotgameJust because it was initially approved doesn't mean it can't be taken out if another mod sees if it wasn't a good blog. I haven't see it but judging from the comments made by Chaut and Akira, it would seem you posted your opinion on the summary which isn't allowed. The summary is just a small amount of details talking about the blog. If you like to mention an opinion or further commentary that goes slightly away from the summary you can keep those to the comments. ------------------- Welcome to Crisis Core forum Welcome to Bad Company 2 God of War 3 official forum community

No, the issue was mostly with the source material itself.

re: Question: Why is my approved article going to be removed? |
quote chautemocI was talking about this Chaut. Post goes hand in hand either summary or comments. Not the source. Unless of course he wrote the blog himself. Which would back up your point. ------------------- Welcome to Crisis Core forum Welcome to Bad Company 2 God of War 3 official forum community

are you guys serious? most of the articles approved are just a stupid list of some kind. why don't you guys remove those? what kind of substantial news is in a list? and what about these window 7 news bits? these are all flamatory to pc users, why don't those get removed?

Hey I'm on your side with the lists, and would like to see a refinement of guidelines in what's acceptable to approve. But that won't happen unless enough people request it in the suggestions forum. Notice the lists typically all get high ratings. =/

Although it's not very "newsy", it's clear to see that list articles not only gain a lot of attention, but a lot of comments. The creation of discussion and interest are two things which are important to GameGrep so it'd be difficult to pass such a thing, without a strong movement as chautemoc mentioned.
By the way, bad ass tag there chauc. ------------------- Gone Fission: Blog Centaurus-A | Decrepit Birth | Gorod | Necrophagist | Nile | Psycroptic | Revocation
