Yeah, if i understand you correctly, its because of the detachable neck, the best way i find to fix it is to imediately pause the game, and push the neck into the guitar, then the button should work again.
Its a common problem, and if you did some researching you could probably find a way to fix it. I havent cause i cant be bothered

Yeah I had the same problem, my guitar even broke because of the pins for the green button not connecting to the neck.

When i was playing one, i literally had my guitar pointed up for ten seconds in the solo, and star power didnt work, ity was full,and 10 10 seconds isnt an exaduration

Take off the neck of the guitar and blow down the neck. Hell I even used a vacuum cleaner at one point.

Theres a video on youtube where you just detach the neck of the guitar, take a clean eraser and rub the 8 little magnet thingies on the bottom of the neck. My yellow button always used to stop working but i tried the eraser thing and i havent had a problem since.

My friend had this problem so he swapped it for the drums on rock bands.
