Story stuff (spoilers)

Highlight to read...

quote
There's a small part of the story I don't understand. It's when you pull some levers and losen some chains, and there's a small cutscene showing a Titan being loosened.
Then, just after, Kratos sees the broken chains of Atlas and comments "Who would release such evil?"
It seems like he pulls these chains, frees Atlas, and then ponders in disgust who would do such a thing...
Hope there's enough information for someone to figure what I'm talking about
Ps. Can you tell from my influx of posts that I finally got around to playing the game this weekend? Passed it all in one day, plus an hour or two the night before. Just as I planned.

You raise a very good point here, it does appear that Kratos releases Atlas...Hmmmmmm.

Spoiler: My Take on this

Perspheone released Atlas, and Kratos was trying to tie up the other Titans so that they couldn't escape as well, since he was trying to see where Atlas had gone.

he didnt loosen the chains of atlas...it was hyperion...he just moved them so he could get to his next spot. No story or plot point there.

re: Story stuff (spoilers)

I don't think thats what Ville is alluding to. In that part there are chains you can break your self using combos and it seems it loosens something. I was actually wondering this myself, it appear it may be something to do with Atlas or as Ville pointed out another Titan.

There was another titan at one point that looked like Cronos, perhaps that who we freed. Remember in the first game where Cronos was carrying the temple where Pandora's box is, im assuming thats who we freed. Its the only logical think i can come up with.

Found a picture although its not the best but it does back up what im saying.

re: Story stuff (spoilers)

Why Hyperion? Does he ever get free?
It's odd that it shows a Titan getting lose that has no relation to anything. Maybe it is that Cronos.

Ps. I NEED Shadow of the Colossus.

hyperion is the titan that you loosen but doesnt go anywhere. The way you know this is the save point right next to the viewable titan is titled something like "Hyperion, a fallen titan". Also, Breaking the chains around the stage doesnt mean anything. You could go thru that whole part not breaking the chains in tartarus and you'd still get the same result. its just there for more stuff for you to break. We all know atlas was freed by persephone. At no point did Kratos help atlas in this game.

The chains give you red orbs. They're like the petrified people in the caves, and the other stuff you can break just for orbs.

kratos did not free anybody. If you go back and play god of war 1 it will tell you that all titans were banished to tartarus except kronos, who was forced by zeus to carry the temple of pandora on his back wandering the desert until it killed him. Cronos has nothing to do with this game. In this game...you only see 2 titans....the one chained up...hyperion, and atlas. Thats it.

Unless Hyperion looked like Kronos, i don't ever remember the game even mentioning Hyperion. Could you find a video or something to show it?

re: Story stuff (spoilers)

Kratos only loosened Hyperion's chains so he could progress. Kratos did not free any Titans. Atlas was freed by Persephone and later recaptured by Kratos and forced to hold the world on his shoulders. Chronos was never banished to Tartarus. His punishment was to wander the desert of lost souls carrying the temple of Pandora until the sand stripped the flesh from his bones

that clear it all up?

re: Story stuff (spoilers)

the game did not mention hyperion in the storyline...but like i said a few posts ago...the save point right next to the titan mentions his name. Every time you save, there is a title for the save spot...the title for this save spot is something like hyperion, fallen titan.
