Link Between Real Half-life and the Game |
|
Yeah, i don't know if anyone has posted about this yet...
But there is some scientific thing about something called EXPONENTIAL DECAY which also branches out to a 'Real Life' halflife. I was wondering if these had anything to do, or are based on the Half-life games?? found the exponential decay thing out by accident when i searched for Half-life on wikipedia Any Help/Critiscisms appreciated ------------------- ![]() I'm Back, And Better than Ever!

I would assume the name has something to do with the decay of Earth following the invasion of the Combine, and just the scientific undertones that run through the game with the Gravity Gun and the fact that Freeman is a scientist.

quote GogetaSSJ4Rulesthe game also uses the greek letter lambda as an A. so i'm not really sure they cared much about scientific accuracy much, at least initially. though it's worth noting that the cat barney talks about regarding testing the teleporters is probably a reference to schrödinger's cat, which does not relate to teleportation at all, but rather ironically to, well, half-life.

Half-Life and it's expansion packs really just relate to physics in general.
Opposinng Force, Blue Shift, and Decay are all physics terms. I'm not sure it really relates to the game at all. It was originally called Quiver. ------------------- ![]()

Hang on, did he just say that half life (the scientific term) might have been based off the games?
Thats *bleep*in' hilarious. ------------------- i don't read posts with queer fonts

It's obviously a reference to the real term. If they called the game "Grilled Cheese Sandwich", it would be based off of a grilled cheese sandwich, the food product.

Well NO SHITTING EINSTEIN
Anyway, it was just a thought, there may well be no connection at all ------------------- ![]() I'm Back, And Better than Ever!

The term is "no shit, sherlock". No shitting Einstein would mean that I somehow crap out Einstein and you want me to stop.
Either way, why the hell would they name it Half-Life otherwise? If you were talking about half of a life only, then you would use a different title since it would be a pretty unintuitive title. It would be kind of like calling a Zelda game "Green Kid with a Sword", though to a somewhat lesser extent. -------------------

now then little kiddies, time for the physics and greek lesson half-life is the name given to the time it takes a substance to decay to hgalf of its original value although this is usually used in physics to discribe atoms it can be used in practically all fields of science, now the lambda symbol, is the eleventh letter of classical and modern greek, and the twelfth of old greek, it is also the symbol representation of wavelength as used in physics equations to work out things about light and sound.
sorry about being so smart but i really like science and i can't stand peaple just trying to guess ------------------- if god is so perfect, why is there rap music and PS3? 95% of teens listen to rap. If your one of the 5% that listen to rock, put this in your signature.
