European Home Update Thread [August 27th 2009]

I thought I would put this saucy little post together to pin up the weekly activety in the EU Playstation Home community, mainly to reduce the ammount of seperate threads being littered across the forums. Before I get spammed about not including the US content, content varies in regions so researching and posting up versions for every region will be testing and may not be accurate. I will throw up some images and brief descriptions of what's going on in Playstation's virtual living quarters.

[August 13th, 2009]

Gamescom Presentation Podium

To celebrate and showcase next week's gaming event, the podium has been open to the public once again in order to grab all of your latest news as it comes around via streaming videos from the event. Hopefully the 3 hour footnote Sony are giving will be available to watch through the eyes of your avatar.

Also, Home users should be aware that the podium is now also home to the Shape Blast mini-game available on the upper level. Basically, you boot up the game via the green-lighted structure in the picture above and you will receive 10 projectiles. Using the cannons positioned on the top floor, you have to fire your projectiles and score through all 8 hoops to win the game.

Motorstorm Sphere

I myself am a huge fan of the Motorstorm series, so you can imagine I was very excited about this space. The actual content included within the space is a sort of spherical greenhouse suspended above the desert with an ornate wreckage statue acting as the centrepiece. It's obviously the perfect place to launch online games of Pacific Rift, but be warned that this space is temporary due to the fact that another Motorstorm hub will be made accessible later on in the year. Fans of the game will love the decorated space, and the jukebox, showcasing over ten of the original Motorstorm tracks, is already gaining insationable amounts of traffic.

There is also plenty of adverts of current Motorstorm projects, including another upcoming Motorstorm Home space which is too vague to draw details out of. Those who visit the sphere will receive a snazzy secret reward, and also there are now Motorstorm costumes available in the Threads store, but may be there for a limited time only...

Events Landing: Buzz! Tomato Challenge

Quite a weird addition to the events space, but still an interesting and unique one to the Playstation Home service. The previous events landing was the Fat Princess space, but the centre rotating statue of "The Warrior" has been replaced with charismatic Buzz! quiz host, Buzz.

The space really only offers a couple of purposes; to advertise Buzz and the Buzz home space already available, and also to offer a free reward for those with their thinking caps on.

The actual gallery area isn't accessible due to crates of tomatoes blocking the path, but beyond the small ledges leading to the gallery stands a much bigger statue of Buzz who is rotating. Standing next to the ledge will offer you a chance to participate in the quiz game, in which you simply have to answer questions. Each right answer will launch a tomato directly at our favourite quizmaster. Plastering the poor guy with 10 correct answers will earn you a free gift.

re: European Home Update Thread [August 27th 2009]

Just bumped the thread with the new Buzz content.

A few of the questions include:

What vessel carries the Blue Peter logo?

Which artist waxed "Summer of '69"?

Which game requires you to do everything you are told?

Yeah I just got the prize, you have to answer ten questions correctly in a row. And also there's some new clothes in the V-store and more clothes for the MySoti section of Threads.

quote Joystiq

PlayStation Home denizens: ready to look at some exciting new advertising content? In Japan, Coca-Cola has announced its intent to place Coke vending machines inside the virtual world, which will distribute avatar items and presents, no doubt all emblazoned with Coke logos -- so you can become the ad. The machines will also dispense digital coupons that can be used at real-life vending machines.

Coca-Cola is also opening a "Georgia Break Station" (named for its Georgia brand of canned coffee), where players will be able to ... uh, sit, or stand around, or whatever happens in Home, but in a different-looking environment.

meh I don't care, it's still a HOME update even if it's in the wrong region.

Sorry, Gamer Boy, but Boyd is right, I am keeping this thread specific to the EU home, but thanks for the image anyways.

re: European Home Update Thread [August 27th 2009]

Just a heads up everyone but there's a ton of free stuff in the shopping centre including shoes, jackets, shirts and trousers.

EDIT:Maybe a mod should sticky this so anyone can put in new HOME stuff.

re: European Home Update Thread [August 27th 2009]

quote Kotaku

Watch where you do the Running Man in PlayStation Home, PS3 owners. As of today, it gets a little more dangerous with the addition of wearable Wolverine claws in Sony's virtual social space.

In an effort to promote the release of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, this year's best mutant action-comedy, on Blu-ray and DVD, Twentieth Century Fox and Sony Computer Entertainment Europe are giving away free adamantium upgrades to Home users. And they're giving away a free animated shirt. They call it a vest in Europe, which sounds much nicer than "wife-beater."

How does one get these lovely prizes?

Well, all one needs to do is visit the old Threads Store in Home, presumably after visiting the Home Theatre to watch a preview of the Blu-ray release.
