Battlefield 2 was the best, imo, and it went south fast with 2142. Hope they can twist the story around to be modern again.

just stick with modern warfare, the ww2 genre has been saturated for some time, nobody is interested anymore, unless it puts you on a fecking unicycle with a water pistol and you run down hitler and squirt the bitch to death, otherwise it would just be same old same old

COD5 is going to be WWII the publisher signed a deal to make a game every year, alternating with modern warfare and WWII. so COD6 will be modern.

Maybe Vietnam or the Korean war. Those are relatively new theatres for games (though I believe that there was some Vietnam game out at some point.)

It was called Conflict:Vietnam. I rented but couldn't play it on Ps2 because I had the wrong controller.

tbh i can't see them back tracking to WW2 again anyway.
They stopped after COD2 (because they could see it was getting old) to work on modern warfare whilst COD3 was being made.
Infinity Ward have said themselves what an amazing step forward this has been and it's been proven in the sales so what idiot would possibly go back to WW2 unless it's something that's never been done before like playing from the Nazi's point of view
Even that in it's own would not sell as well as modern warfare
