No Fighting in the War Room Checkpoint Question

Alright guys, so I've recently come back to playing CoD4 religiously and I'm mixing it up between online play and finishing up the campaign on Veteran. I'm at the level where you go into the missle silo, playing as Soap, its called "No Fighting in the War Room". Anyways, I've only gotten one checkpoint in the mission, which is right after you clear out the shower areas and Price opens up the door to the hallways with the red flashing lights; the very beginning of the level, right as the timer starts counting. Anyways, I've played it through a bunch of times, and I keep dying down in the room that's shaped like a t, right at the bottom of the stairs, the room where shit really starts to hit the fan. Well, I've seen some videos on how to beat this level, and they are all getting checkpoints on the stairs. I haven't gotten a checkpoint there any time that I've tried it - anyone else experience this or know why it might be happening?

You have to get the checkpoint within a certain amount of time. If you take too long, you loose the checkpoint.

This is to prevent you from having a checkpoint in the middle of the level but only having one minute left to complete it.

It can get annoying, and I personally think it's the second or third hardest encounter in the game on veteran, but if you're persistent, you'll be able to pass it eventually.

re: No Fighting in the War Room Checkpoint Question

this mission was the bane of my existence for a long time. I was having the same problem you were. it is all about memorizing where the guys are and getting through as fast as possible. It is actually alot like the FNG mission, just think of it like that and you will get it. This mission is the second hardest on veteran in my opinion, the first being mile high club. Goddamn that mission it is the only achievement in the game that i havent gotten yet, im so pissed. anyway, good luck.

I'm stuck on this level and Mile High as far as completing veteran mode is concerned.I've ended up having to complete "No Fighting In The War Room,"on veteran mode.Unless someone has a general answer as to how to complete this level with in 9 minutes.

re: No Fighting in the War Room Checkpoint Question

Well, I guess I'll just put it bluntly:
You gotta get better

The game is by no means required to "let" you beat the level. You have to earn it, and to do so you have to get better.

I'll admit, I was stumped on this (and mile high club) for the longest time, but I just kept at it.

I guess it's a mixture of getting lucky, and rushing by, but I eventually beat them.

I will give you some tips, though.

~The hardest encounters (in my opinion) are the section past the stairs, and the missile silos. If you can manage those then the rest of the level should be a breeze.
~ Don't be afraid to liberally use flashbangs. They'll help you in many situations.
~ Shoot through crates and stuff to get to unseen enemies.
~ Use your reflexes. If you spot an enemy, don't think, just shoot. Let your eyes and hands do the work. If you hesitate for even a moment, you're toast.
~ Go prone and crouch a lot.
~ If you get to a tricky spot, rush by to an opening (take care of opposition in your way by blindfiring), and let your allies kill the enemies. Too much of this level is lost if you waste time killing every enemy yourself.
~ Use weapons you're comfortable with. The starting M4 does wonders, and use the grenade launcher as much as possible. It saves you alot of work and frustration.
~ Adapt. Change your tactics. Do something you haven't done before. If what you're doing isn't working, then you're obviously doing something wrong. Change things up. You'd be surprised as to how much can be accomplished with just a little change.
~ Take a break! A lot of this game (and many others) is mental, and if you're frustrated and pissed, chances are you aren't going to perform much better. So take a break. Cool down, and listen to some relaxing music, and refresh yourself with a nice cold drink. If need be, don't play for days on end. I find that if I take a break for several days, I do much better, for some reason, than before.
~ Don't give up! If you want to beat this, then don't get discouraged and quit. You will beat this eventually as long as you persist...

...or don't and say you beat it in spirit

re: No Fighting in the War Room Checkpoint Question

Yeah, I understand it's hard, that wasn't my question. I was just asking if there was a reason I wasn't getting the checkpoint, which someone answered earlier, so now I guess I'll go try at it again, moving faster. Thanks for the tips
