Conviction Scans (foreign magazine)
Also, GameInformer (June 07) has a big article on Conviction. This is what I have managed to glean from the pages: -Sam has over 10,000 unique animations that govern how he reacts to the enviroment. -NPCs react to everything in the enviroment (they walk around fallen chairs and each other instead of trying to walk through them or over) -Light and shadow gameplay have been nixed, and instead advanced lighting techniques like indirect lighting (aka color-bleed) have been added to the gameplay to let you admire the enviroments more. -The game has been designed from the bottom up as mature-rated fare, so the violence and finishing moves Sam has at his disposal will be accurately reflected from the rating. -Enviromental finishers will make an appearance (suprise a guard, handcuff him and kick him down the stairs as an example), as will diversionary tactics (a-la Assassin's Creed crowd mechanics, though both games innovations here were developed seperately, so they won't feel similar to each other) -Waiting and observing guard patrols will be gone, and replaced by reacting quickly to your enviroment and always moving. -Crowds will observe and immediately report suspicious actions in a way that sounds more realistic than Hitman has managed to do in previous games. -Night-vision goggles are gone, but are replaced by a heightened "spy sense". For example, Sam can see guards and undercover cops in crowds and even behind walls due to a special visual cue. -Due to the way the crowd-mechanics are written, there can apparently be well over 30 NPCs on screen at any one time, all reacting realistically to Sam's actions. -Havok has nearly been completely rewritten to showcase the new physics and enviroment-based gameplay. So far, it seems like less of a "Splinter Cell 5" and more of a "Bourne Identity" type game, which seems much more awesome, especially with the almost complete abandonment of the shadow-stealth mechanics.

I like the sound of some of that, but I also don't like the idea of less stealth...

It sounds great bit the less stealth might be unfortunate but the colour bleeding might be a improvement.

It is kind of like a GTA game but you are no longer a spy and the multiplayer is supposed to be just like the game play where you have to blend in and there are NPC's thrown in there to fool you

Yeah, "Bourne Identity" was one of the first things that popped into my mind when reading that article too. I love the new ideas they're using for this game. In all the toher ones they just kind of threw in a couple more actions to give the illusion of "new", but now they really are taking the series forward. I smell another great game on the way.

Yeah, it takes place a couple of years after Double Agent. Sam Fisher is now a fugitive running from the law, trying to stay hidden after the events of Double Agent.

Pretty sad if you think about it. That spy sence seems pretty cool though. I might try to get a picture of it. I guess Sam was just meant to be an agent. P.S. Sam fisher has had the most transformations than any other game character I know. That and Lambert. I wonder if they'll ever see each other again.

That's the thing. I'm not sure if Lambert is even in the series anymore.
With that hanging over the producers and the writers of this game's head, it'll be hard to make a decision on Lambert' appearance. ------------------- ![]()

Consitering You can kill lambert in Double Agent no matter what system you play it on, I'm pretty sure he isn't in this game...exept that he's the narrator, so maybe you cant kill him. Maybe the end of the game is that Fisher has to make a decision whether to kill A.D. williams like he sais in double agent, or rejoin third echelon. If he does rejoin, then at least Tom Clancy can make more splinter cell games.

Well not necessarily. I forget whether if it's the 360 version or the PS3 version but when the credits role, you hear some ops units break into the place and arrest Sam Fisher but he manages to break out and jump into the river. There's a Youtube video for it but I can't find it for the life of me. Anyways, that gives the possibility of the ops getting to Lambert in time, whether he was shot or not, therefore keeping him alive. It's a crazy theory, I know but it's just a shot. And something tells me that Sam will kill Williams. The storyline for Splinter Cell Essentials is still quite blurry for me and vague but I think that Williams frames Fisher right?
In terms of Conviction's storyline in saving Anna, he can either team up with Third Echelon and the NSA again to regain Grímsdóttir or he can do it on his own, all the while staying out of the NSA's radar. ------------------- ![]()
