Im sorry but this game is considerably better and funner than Forza 2...

Forza 2 feels cheap (ya know, like level grinding on WoW) almost as if the developers want people to play it longer so they whack a few different routes round a track to make it seem more interesting...

Ive had Dirt for 3 days now and im obsessed with it... finished tier 1 2 and 3 and have barely seen any reproduced tracks, and if they ARE repoduced its a completely different feel to it... you dont see the same environments again and again and get bored...

Dirt ftw Forza ftl *dances*

re: Im sorry but this game is considerably better and funner than Forza 2...

No argument mate, both are completely different racers. One is circuit racing, the other is off-road racing. It's like comparing a football game to a basketball game, they may be ball sports, but they're completely different. Forza 2 definatly does things more realistically and has all the amazing features like a comprehensive car design mode & loads of Live modes (auction house anyone?). CM: DiRT lacks the features, but makes up for it with amazing off-road gameplay, amazing graphics & some very convincing physics.

Having only played the DiRT demo, this opinion isn't 100% valid, but I think Forza 2 is a much better overall racing game. 300+ cars, real life tracks, unbeatable car physics & control, enormous car upgrading & designing features, huge career mode & extensive Live play. As a racing game, it can't be beat.

re: Im sorry but this game is considerably better and funner than Forza 2...

now i think that opinion is wrong, ya know labelling them seperately for the simple reason they have a lot of overlapping features. Is it true that dirt isnt out there yet? lol that explains why the forum isnt so busy..

Regarding your point though, dirt has a truck load of features including career mode, rally mode and championship mode, and of course on live for multiplayer. The only thing forza has over dirt is the car painting but i dont see that as a reason to buy the game as the main premise is the racing.

Youd be surprised at how many tracks and cars there are in this... theres loads lol (admittedly not as much as forza, only say 100) but there you could say having 300+ cars is too many and just an excuse to get players playing.

I played both demos to try and get a genuine feel for both of them, and i wanted to throw my controller at the TV in forza... I sucked at dirt as well coz racers arent my forte but dirt had that element of competition where it is fun, even if you came second... I think people put too much emphasis on winning nowadays (plus ive heard theres a lot of bastards on live who crash into you to piss you off on purpose..)

There is 11 races in tier 1, 10 in T2, 9 in T3 etc etc which adds up to about 66 tracks, all of which (pretty much) have their own seperate track/level/environment and in comparison to forzas measly 12 youve certainly got a challenger for which is the better game..

Now obviously me thinking Dirt is better is just my opinion, so obviously doesnt hold any weight but the weird thing is that does nobody else think it is too!? GAH! you forza-ers!! lmao

LOL, they are completely different racers mate - no comparison possible IMO.

I just find Dirt to be insanely easy, probably hence why you are finding it so fun. My mate got 800 pts out of the game in 4 days!!! That would be impossible in Forza.

Forza you have to actually put some work in before you reap the rewards. And once you get no assist driving then it really becomes fun with a more realistic feel to each individual car.

But at the end of the day, they are completely different racers.

Ah but theres difficulty levels that go from piss easy to insanely difficult... so you tailor the game to your abilities...

As you can do with Forza. You can play the game like an arcade racer, drifting around each corner at 150KPH, or you can play the game like a racing simulator, using a manual transmission with no traction control, stability control or ABS breaks. You can also turn the damage to simulation standards, with a single accident making your car un-drivable. I know this is possible with DiRT too.

Heh, I'd barely say a truck load. You have 3 offline modes, compared to Forza's 2 offline modes (although, the Arcade mode has modes inside it, so it's really more like 5 offline modes). You're suggesting that DiRT's multiplayer equels that of Forza 2? Correct me if I'm wrong, but DiRT has absolutly NO multi-car racing in multiplayer. The ONLY form of multiplayer you can partake in is time trials. While DiRT players are limited to racing ghost cars, Forza 2 players can race each other in exhibition races, career races, championships, series' & tournaments. Oh yeah, and we can sell/trade our cars.

And you'd be suprised how in-depth the car designing is. I actually know a guy who's sole reason for purchasing the game is to design cars. You can have approxmiatly 6,000 layers of graphics on your car, with almost limitless combinations of shapes & designs. All of this, combined with the fact that you can implement these designs on some of the rarest and most powerful cars on the face of the earth.

You've still failed to prove that DiRT can compare to Forza has a general racing game. Everything DiRT does only merits praise for it's catagory as an off-road racer.

Yep, well, opinions are like arseholes mate. Everybody has one. I personally think yours came out of one when you said DiRT was considerably better.

The rally handling is awful. And why does it feel more like rallying on the Japan tarmac rally than it does on the gravel and dirt rallies of Australia for instance. The cars on there feel like they're glued to the track and on rails.

re: Im sorry but this game is considerably better and funner than Forza 2...

There is no way to compare these games. Forza, beyond the graphics customization, has loads of performace and tuning possibilities that DiRT simply doesn't match. But dirt wasn't designed as a racing simulator, its a rally racing game.

They are two very good games, but you couldn't say one is better because they are so insanely different. Both have their good parts and bad parts, like any game.

Of course dirt won't have any reproduced tracks. Look at the number of WRC rally stages compared to the number of race-tracks in the world. There's so many more to choose from. And, if they can't find one they like, its not that hard to just make a rally course on the countryside.

My only real "complaint" with dirt, is the fact that all the hill climb stages, on Pikes Peak, are pretty boring. I've done all of them, on every difficulty, and beat them all by more than 10 seconds. But then, i live about 30 minutes from the base of said pikes peak, so its maybe not fair. I will say, though, that the pikes peak stages in-game and the Pikes Peak Highway (reality) are identical. Its great.
