Is it possible to change anyone else's gear besides Rush's? Every so often I manage to find weapons (from treasure chests and/or combat spoils) that are only usable by certain races. However, I can't figure out how to utilize the new gear.

I also have opportunities to create new gear that is also only usable by characters other than Rush, but don't want to waste the money creating them if I can't even put them to use!

I have noticed a few times that some of them will ask to 'borrow' accessories, which I go ahead and 'lend' out. However, I have yet to have anyone ask to borrow any weapons (although, I have not actually purchased/created anything not usable by Rush (primarily because I don't want to waste the money since I don't know if they will even be used)).

So if I do buy/create something (for example, only Torgal can use), how do I know if/when it will be used? Or is it a waste of time to buy/create stuff for anyone other than Rush?
