if it comes out im october then in a few weeks R2 and COD5 comes out

then in february Kilzone 2 comes out

so loads of shooters come out right after SOCCOM so it will be forgotten

Good analogy, if Socom has an online, than it will die very fast. I was actually considering this title because I have read good things about the Socom titles. However, since R2 & CoD5 are releasing very close to one another, it does not look good for Socom. I would choose R2 & CoD5.

yeah il probarly get it mainly for the heasdset and i need a decent team based game

Socom has a religion, it'll be busy for a while, i've been hearing bad things about the closed beta for r2 from a trusted friend who's in it. Also cod5 could be a flop since it looks almost exactly like 4 but in ww2 plus its made my treyarch who made number 3.

the gameplay vids look lame and i didnt like first one


but they it will be popular with COD5 from series fans

i still prefer SOCCOM cause of the headset and i need a more tactical TPS

IMO it is not likely Socom will die off. It is one of the flagships for playstation. As stated by "Lupin" COD5 seems like a WW2 skin of COD4. Dont get me wrong COD4 is a great game but does not have the following of socom. People are still playing Socom on PS2 right now.

Socom Confrontation is an online only game there is no offline mode or single player campaign.

R2 and Killzone are great titles but there are people that are hooked on Socom and the third-person shooter genre. It could come out the same day as both of the previously mention games and would still out sell both of them.

The thing that will hurt Confrontation the most is lack of offline. Believe it or not, some people don't have internet so they will pass this game by. I'll probably stick with MGO for my tactical TPS.

You are right everyone does not have Internet but Socom is online motivated and Clan driven. Everyone that plays socom jumps online. Socom grasps the social teamwork aspect. You could be right it might hurt it a little but not by much. When you buy socom you are looking for online warfare.

Who knows? Maybe it was intended to release first, so people who want to satisfy their curiosity get the game. If COD5 and R2 were to come out first, people would think Socom isn't worth it, because they already have R2 or COD5. Socom will make a run for their money.

(I'm addicted to Socom, the tactics involved, and teamwork. No one person can kill an entire team.)

Not in a business sense its not, because if they released after those games and the games built up big fan bases on top of what they have already, who would buy socom?

so you release first and hope that the game is good enough to keep the players and if not, they still made sales.

This is a HILARIOUS THREAD!!!!! Anybody who thinks R2 COD4.5/5 or Killzone 2 is going to kill Socom really doesn't know what socom is about or the following for socom. People still play Socom 1, Socom 2, Socom 3, and Socom Combined Assault still to this day. Cod4 and Resistance never signaled the end of those previous Socoms so I highly, HIGHLY doubt they will end the following Confrontation. People may not realize it but this game is gonna push a lot of new system sales as well, because I'd be willing to bet over 5000 people have waited to buy a ps3 until a new Socom came out. Socom is THE online shooter for the PlayStation and always has been. There will be more people playing socom than there will be playing the other games mentioned at any point in time you can count on that. How many PlayStation games have you ever known to have over 90,000 people on at one time? Socom 2 says hello, and guess which game confrontation is trying to be like? Obvious answer. I feel bad for Resistance 2 and CoD 4.5 because they will be competing with the online juggernaut know as Socom it won't be the other way around, bet your money on that!
