So, numerous times I've been killed by a french assault rifle known as the FAMAS. Now, when I go into my weapon select screens I do not have this weapon. I have no idea if there are more weapons like this, as I have only encountered the FAMAS. So, how do you get it? Is it a ranking up thing (if so, how does ranking work? I've played several ranked matches with a positive K/D ratio and no rank up yet) or does it come with a special copy of the game (collector's edition?)?

I heard that you unlock different weapons and some other clothing by joining clans. There are different types of clans like american, french etc. American will get you the SCAR and french will get you the FAMAS.

Each special forces team has their own elite weapon....You can create your own clan or join a clan....whether it be american, british, french, german or spain...they all have their own special weapon and gear....whatever clan you are apart of.....thats who's stuff you get.....
