Yeah it pretty much looked like a newb stomp. Savior was trying to learn the tech tree but Bisu just kept the pressure on and had excellent micro.

Lol, there's actually a Korean TV show where they have the pros play against average players online. Sometimes they win in 5 minutes and sometimes they just play around and toy with the newbies.

SC2, as most pros have put it, is more macro-based. You have to get your economy up and running very quickly because some of the key units cost more than they used to.

Just a small update, some videos are linked to Neoseeker's video section when available. I highly recommend checking out the matches from Blizzard WWI 2008. It gives you a good idea of how the games will be played out.

That game was quite disappointing for me. Dustin Browder is always saying how matches are amazing between Blizzard employees because "they know what they're doing". He kept saying that during a community match between YellOw (SC progamer) and Sonkie (WC3 progamer).

So naturally, I was expecting some amazing shit from the battle report, but these guys didn't know how to macro at all. Protoss should have SO many more Gateways than that guy did. YellOw only started playing the game for a couple of hours and he was even pumping from 8 Gates constantly in his PvZ vs Sonkie. Not to mention YellOw pulls out some sick progamer-only level Stalker Blink micro.

Anyone in this forum can probably play better than those Blizzard guys (especially Cooper) after 1 day of playing.

Those units aren't supposed to be super powerful, they're just high-tier and are effective in some late game situations. Warp Gates are going to be so obnoxious for other races to deal with, especially Terran.

In my first ladder SC2 game. I'm going to proxy Pylons all over the map and just warp shit everywhere and be as annoying as possible. It will definitely work well against Terran, and possibly Zerg. It's going to be hilarious.

At the site, you need to use their own downloader to actually get the videos. Having them put on Youtube and Neoseeker is much more convenient. And last time I checked, they didn't have the community matches put up.

That was a weird game. The Terran player had the worst timing for a bunker rush I've ever seen, it probably would've been better to just fake a bunker rush and have the Zerg pull 2-3 drones. The Zerg did a decent job pressuring Terran in the early-mid game but he probably should've expanded sooner. It looked like he just forgot to macro and just let the Terran make a bunch of shit. Also, I miss the Medic already. There are still some little issues to address (Spine Crawler attack is too small to notice eve in HD) but I'm impressed with the progress Blizzard has made so far.

Yeah, the Spine Crawler attack is incredibly hard to notice. SC2 is expected to be a huge eSport, so little issues like this shouldn't exist. Apparently those Nighthawk missiles can be dodged completely with proper micro, and if the unit is fast enough to begin with. I'd like to see how hard it is for a clump of Mutalisks to dodge it.

Did you notice the Hydralisk melee animation? I've been waiting for that ever since they showed the Hydra tearing shit up in the cinematics. I'm going to assume it still counts has a ranged attack and does the same damage. Otherwise it could cause some balance issues.


This happened at around 20 minutes into the BR.

Macro means management of your economy, it has nothing to do with unit control.

Are you kidding? You know nothing about Starcraft. Even the pro gamers have said this will favour macro play much more. The fact that MBS has been implemented, along with other things like double-gas bases and high yield gold minerals should make this quite obvious.

Seriously, do you know anything about Starcraft? It's safe to say that pro gamers are exponentially more knowledgeable than you when it comes to playing the game. Way to simply say "i disagree" without actually backing that statement up.

BTW, Blizzard has at least 2 former pro gamers working on Starcraft 2.

Just added Battle Report #3. This is probably the closest BR yet, it's the only one that hasn't been a completely one-sided rape. The space platform setting looks awesome, but the black smoke seems a little gimmicky.

Uh, the video is called "ten nukes", but it's just old footage from the SC2 announcement video back in 2007.

The editor is sick, we can make 3rd person shooters and rail shooters with this thing. Un-friggin-believable.

Yeah, I'm still going to destroy people on the ladder, but the editor is just unrivaled by any other RTS. This game is going to keep people busy for another decade.

I just saw it earlier today, wasn't sure if I should at it to the first post because it really doesn't offer much news. GT has tons of videos like that. You should make a GameGrep article with it, it's quite informative for the people who haven't seen the other BlizzCon vid and it's in good quality.

Battle Report #4 added, it's easily the best one yet.

That dropship/tank micro is exactly what Boxer used to do on this very map back in the early days of BW. I'd like to see David Kim play Protoss in the next PvT game, we've seen him play the matchup twice as Terran and won both times. It would be interesting to witness a Protoss do something right in PvT.

I wonder if Nuke is actually a viable weapon this time or if David Kim was just able to use it because he's that much better.

It looked viable in the Battle Report, but it could just be due to David Kim being the superior player (he is 4-0 in all the battle reports and undefeated on the BlizzCon stage). Which is pretty much how nukes are used in BW, as a humiliation tactic when you already have the advantage. This Protoss made simple mistakes and, as stated by Browder, lacked knowledge of some spells. Again, I would like to see an example of Protoss doing something right. =(
