So I'm re-playing Brood War's Zerg campaign and only using Mutalisks (when given the option to build them, of course). Omega is ridiculous, Valkyries and vessels everywhere.

I'm such a nerd. Had a dream about getting starcraft 2 last night and when I put it in it ended up being some Mario Kart game with starcraft characters. I immediately went back to the store for a refund.

That reminds me of that Star Wars big-head racing game, Super Bombad Racing.
What a pile of shit. Edit: I'm reading an interview involving Boxer and Bisu, and it seems both of them want to see the replay function disabled in SC2. quoteIt's an understandable comment for them to make. An SC progamer having his replays leaked is like an MMA fighter having his practice footage leaked. It would be a nice feature to be able to disable autoreplays during televised league matches but taking out the function completely is a bad idea. Interesting point. Sharing replays with friends has always been enjoyable and I would hate that option to disappear. I think an option to have it disabled is the way to go.

Replays are absolutely necessary in the non-pro level, otherwise hackers would just be able to dominate online tourneys. They are also a good way to analyze and fix your own mistakes. For the sake of progaming, I think a good solution would be to allow the host (in this case, the referee) to disable replays for all players in a specific game, except himself, to prevent any from being leaked by players themselves. Referees still need to view the replays to ensure no bugs were used.

3 OUT OF 5 KOREANS LOSE TO FOREIGNERS AT INTERNATIONAL E-SPORTS FESTIVAL 2009.
5 Koreans were invited/qualified to the event: Bisu (IEF 2008 winner, 3 time MSL champion) Stork (IEF 2008 runner-up, OSL champion) EffOrt (3rd best Zerg player, IMO) BoxeR (He's the mother*bleep*ing Terran Emperor) Terror (retired progamer) Bisu lost to Effort and Jaystar (Chinese) Effort lost to PJ (Chinese) BoxeR lost to White-Ra (Ukrainian) and G5 (American) Stork and Terror advanced to the finals and will play each other for the a first place prize of $10,000. Looks like the gap isn't as far as most people think (though the Koreans are still heavy favourite 99% of the time). The Koreans most likely weren't trying at all and underestimated the strong foreigners. To quote Bisu: quoteMaybe the entire foreign community has a chance at being top SC2 players.

re: General Game Discussion 1 |
quote strawberryleavesYes he did, my mistake. Have you seen the games yet? I'm aware that Bisu lost to Jaystar because he failed a proxy gate (which is cocky on Bisu's part). Do you know if the others lost in standard, straight up games? Edit: lol, the replays got leaked. Bisu cheesed pretty much every game, his 1 gate proxy failed to jaystar's defensive 2gate. Effort actually beat JayStar. I don't know why it was reported that Effort lost, the replay shows him dominating and Jay typing gg first. When I see all of you talk about pro-players and all these names I feel like such a noob...
Also, after Battle Report #4 it makes me feel like I never truly played StarCraft. How much do you guys think it would benefit me to start StarCraft from scratch involving tactics until SCII comes? ------------------- ![]()

quote FreezeIt'll definitely help a lot. Learning how to manage your minerals (particularly on 1v1 maps) and micro tactics (even though there are new units) will guarantee you a win over a player who has just picked up SCII without playing the original. It's not even that. Anything that you can use in SCII will help out. Of course I'm just going by what I'm seeing on the game play videos. The two games look similar enough. ------------------- Twilight in a nutshell: The story of a young woman's choice to practice either bestiality or necrophilia.

Being good at BW will definitely make it easier to be good at SC2. From a mechanics point of view, SC2 will actually be easier because you can select multiple buildings, more units and rally workers to automine. I can guarantee David Kim won't look so impressive if he played a battle report in Brood War.
Multi-building selection will play a huge role in simplifying the game. Instead of having to click on 10 Gateways to make units (20 clicks + mouse movement), you can just shift+click, or hotkey and make units (4 clicks at most). Skills in micro will transfer quite easily too because SC2 will be similar in that the units aren't terribly strong like WC3. HP and damage stats haven't changed too much. Yellow executed perfect Stalker micro with little experience in SC2 (he was playing the game for like an hour before this). That's more impressive than anything in any of those Battle Reports, micro-wise. [size=1][color=#666666]This message was edited by AznLiquid on Nov 10 2009.

Freeze, if you plan on re-starting SC, here are some micro maps that I have found to be decent. They won't magically anyone into a pro but they are helpful if you don't want to jump into the insane world of 1v1s right away.
mutaspace in particular is quite fun.
