Well I've heard this is a major OP weapon from people here and my friends but I have one with like 75%+ condition and around 65 energy weapons skill and it does like 18 damage and not as good as some of my small guns I have. Is there a better rifle that I don't have?

At 100 Energy Weapons, and at 100% it only does 23 damage I think. What you need is the Plasma Rifle (obtainable from Enclave Soldiers in Tesla armour). Plasma Rifle does 45 at full repair and 100 Energy.

Like in the previous Fallouts, Laser Rifles work at longer ranges, while the plasma is more powerful, but not as accurate at longer ranges.

even better:
A3-21's Plasma Rifle Visit Rivet City and speak to Zimmer in the lab. Complete the quest "The replicated man" and side with the android. The weapon is his reward. Information by: Hutchie source this does a ton o damage even with a lousy energy weapons skill. not as great as the alien blaster but way better than the regular plasma rifle. This can be repaired with plasma rifles. so what I recommend: if you encounter the enclave, take their weapons. I'm serious, you get alot of caps for laser pistols in good conition and 100s for laser rifles in any condition (I once sold one for 734 caps in a good condition).  -------------------  | |

i agree with blazikez on this one, the hunting rifle was my favourite gun for a while, then i discovered Lincoln's Repeater, which uses .44 bullets, the same as the Scoped Magnum, it also has 15 magazine capacity, that 3 times more than the hunting rifle

I loved the Hunting Rifle as well, until I found the Repeater, and then Ol' Painless (Unique Hunting Rifle) respectively, which I used when I was running low on .44 Magnum Rounds.
You know both of you guys linked to the same thread I did right? ------------- Hey, is it just me, or do Aliens have a ridiculous proficiency when it comes to Weapons, but when it comes to driving/flying they have no clue? I mean, come on, two crash sights (Blaster + Firelance) and 5-6 mini crash sights where you can find ammo? oh yeah, didnt notice, sorry blaziken i will delete it, and i think your right about the alien, when aliens come, they either crash into us or they observe us, never ever fight us, id like to fight some aliens just to see how they cope

The nukes and radiation could be the reason for the crashed alien ships. I'm guessing the one with the Alien Blaster died of radiation since his green body looks rather... fresh.

Nah it wasn't the alien gun I was thinking about I remember when I was talking about the SMG being insane and someone said wait til you get the laser rifle. I guess the gun is better than most but it's kinda hard to find ammo for... I guess I'll just head over to the Jefferson memorial and kill some Enclave for ammo and guns plus some sexy armor
