re: Debating Controversies in Fallout 3

What's funny is Moira survives and ends up in Underworld as a ghoul. So whatever. But Vault Tech's whole toying with people is pretty true, seeing as most go insane, suicidal, or homicidal. It really doesn't seem fair.

re: Debating Controversies in Fallout 3

I tried to post this a few days ago, then I exited the damn screen. >.>

Lets talk about the Power of Atom Quest. Oh sure, no one would blow up the town in real life, right? To be honest, I would think about it at least.

Those people are miserable, and others are corrupted in various ways. You have citizens complaining about no water, and how its only for the citizens, and you have Gob and the guy tending the Brahmin working for such shit wages.

Then Moriarty is scum for basically having Gob for a slave. Jericho is an ex-raider, and Moriarty's terminal can show what is up with him. Leo Stahl is a drug dealer, which are not very well liked last I checked.

I don't know. Theres innocent people like Moira and Lucas Simms in there, but they live with all of the other people I mentioned above. Hell, I bet a lot of them would wish they were dead.

But its your call.

I'd think about it too in real life. Your right about how it might be the best. When i first read Moriarity's terminal, i was surprised about just about everything it said in there except the things about Jericho. Jericho I kind of figured was gonna be a guy like that. But really, I don't think I'd end up doing it though, because of all the people there though. If the town survived since Vault 101 was closed, then even if some are somewhat miserable, I still wouldn't actually blow it up in real life because they obviously wanted too and tried. If anything, I'd probably team up with some people in the town, and get rid some of the assholes, or make some people leave or something. Like Gob, why not have him sneak out sometime (if only in the game you could help him). Or just kill some of the guys who just need to go or something. But in real life, i couldn't kill them all by detonating the bomb.

re: Debating Controversies in Fallout 3

Its more of the combination of the miserable AND corrupted people that make me think of destroying the town. Granted Megaton is a pretty decent town, but its awful there.

Rivet City, they actually have a decent life, consistent food, various stalls, and a nice lifestyle in general. Megaton struggles just to get by.

Maybe there are people like Lucas Simms and Moira who have done nothing wrong and are happy living in Megaton, but think about it: What do they do? They sit around and what, wait for death to come? They aren't doing much else really.

re: Debating Controversies in Fallout 3

why is anything in the game morally debatable? its only a game.

if you dont like playing god in a simulation of a simulation (tranquility lane) then why play god in the first degree in the first place?

It was four things and being that 2 involved killing, and the other 2 involved going against his wishes and essentially putting him into Limbo. I personally considered that playing God.
Two of them were killing him in one way or another, and no one asked you to light him on fire. That counts for three things in my book.

We all play God in everyday life if making choices that influence others is considered that. "We are our own Gods" comes to mind really.

Uhm..I know it's not being debated anymore but, Bob expressely asked you NOT to light him on fire as he was afraid of it. That is where the playing God/Devil part comes in. So that is a fourth option.

re: Debating Controversies in Fallout 3

bump

So I was thinking about how I should end the game when I get BS. We all know that you have the option to insert the modified FEV into PP, but who would really do it? Who wouldn't do it? Explain your reasoning for your answer.

I personally believe that inserting the virus in would not be a total loss. Humanity is mutated more than physically if you think about it.

Most of the Wastelanders have been raised in complete Anarchy. What chance does the world have of returning to normal when there are people who believe they can do whatever they want, whenever they please? You can argue that the BoS would bring order to the country, but I highly doubt that have that much control.

Yet this would mean that only the Enclave and other examples of them would exist. The "purest" form of humanity you can call them. They are for all intended purposes, the U.S. Government. They were responsible for creating the Super Mutants. Who is to say they would be satisfied with what they were left with?

In other words, how do we know they still won't perform experiments to increase humanity's qualities? How do we know they won't create more horrifying monsters than Deathclaws or Super Mutants?
