Playing against the program

I've spent considerable time playing 3d pinball, I've read stories about the weak flippers, solved only by starting another program such as windows media player, and read about the ball going THROUGH the flipper, this has happened to me on numerous occasions, usually when the flipper is up while the ball is heading toward it. I've also had the ball go directly through the center pin, not while it is dissapearing but after it has just been activated. More recently I have had the game take extra balls that I have earned taken away from me, this last time I kept track, on ball 2 I earned an extra ball, after losing the ball, I was instantly on ball 3.

I'm convinced that the program is designed to take the ball away from the player under certain circumstances no matter what. The player at times has no control. I have had instances when the ball made unusual bounces sending it directly through the center up to 6 times in a row.

This is not realistic pinball, matter of fact it's extremely frustrating and I have concluded that it is a complete waste of my time. I have scored games consistantly in the upper 20 million range and high scores in the 60 and 70 million range. I'm removing 3d pinball from my pc and I'll never play it again. It is a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME, in my honest opinion.

I wish I could find a more realistic pinball game, but then again games in general are a waste of time.

It's only a game of skill if the program lets you be skillful, when you spend 30 minutes running on 1 ball and it ends up going THROUGH a paddle, that is enough for me.

I completely agree, some of the lost balls are just too "freaky" to be realistic. You would think that the creators of the game would want the user to enjoy playing, not get so pissed off you smash your laptop (been there done that, I should've sued).

I dunno, I remember a few times when I was playing real Pinball (I believe it was a Star Wars one) the ball actually bounced over the flippers. As a matter of fact, it happened several times. I wasn't to happy about that.

"its just a glitch"
If the software was written correctly and done with proper careful research there would be no glitches. You are one of the people that says "oh there's something wrong? don't worry about it,.." duh, that's the basic difference between settling for the "average" and finding perfection. Some of us are not the "why bother" under-achievers.

There is no such thing as a bug/glitch free program these days (and there hasn't been for years). There's so much coding involved in creating a piece of software that it's practically impossible to check every bit of code to make sure there isn't an error. Anyone who looks hard enough will find something wrong with it.

re: Playing against the program

This software is really crap, probably never tested by anyone with intelligence, though I see several here that are defending it, lol, says a lot for the posters.

When coincidence turns reality it's usually to abnormal to be true, thus the scoring in this game, it's a joke. I casually play a 3-ball set for up to an hour and score average games in the 30 to 40 million, high scores over 100 million, can't stand the program any more, it's junk, what a waste. I've had literally dozens of consecutive balls take the weirdest turns to fall directly inbetween the flippers, 12+ in a row, not cool, just plain junk.
