Arial Manoeuvres |
|
I no doubt will be getting AC6 at the weekend. Last great flight game I played was Lylat Wars!! so I was wandering if anyone has any tips for out manouevering enemy aircraft...
Is there a move where you can pull up hard with air brakes, then, fall back down behind a pursuer? Or barrel rolling to avoid their fire? -------------------

Yeah you can slow down and speed up in the usual ways but you can also put in both the brakes and afterburner to turn really tight. Great for gettting back into gun range and avoiding missles. So all the real maneuvers work if you know haw to use them. But there are no press A to do a flip like in halo.

I've seen vids online of stunt flying, flying upside down and banking to get through narrow gaps. Looks amazing as well. So what you mean is you fly by accelerating/braking on either side of the plane? There's one tactic I know of used in WW2 which was to fly at high altitude then dive bomb your enemy but with modern day fighters it must be harder to shake them off your tail.

Its not nearly as hard as you think. But you can do any maneuver (real) that you've ever heard of high yo-yo's my favorite. but anything you might have seen on say history channel's dogfight show you can do.
You can't accelerate half (one side) the plane, you just accelerate. ------------------- And remember on a scale from one to awsome, I'm super great. "I am so glad you have come to die with me, we will get to be smitherines together." Caboose

In some loading screens they give you tips, like scissoring.
Banking left and right repeatedly may force a close bogey n front of you for a quick kill ------------------- ![]() Good night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers

I'm loving the amount of freedom, just another question though, how are you meant to achieve lock on? I've read most of the manual and done all the in-game training but it says nothing more than auto lock on. I will be doing a slow swoop or tailing a bogey and fly right past without getting a single lock on, why is this?

You can use the triangle ... see caught myself the Y button to switch targets. It tries to pick the closest target infront of you but its not very good at it. As long as you are locked on to a taget (regardless if its behind you) it will not lock onto another until the original is destroyed or you press triangle.

Myself I fly as I did with the other games.Of course when get a missile alert you dodge it. When flying low try not to smack into a building, any of the heavier aircraft like the B-52s,C-17s,AC-130s,E-767s and such,or crashing into the ground and watch how you manuever and low altitudes.
Also to help in a bit of spelling corection its Aerial not Arial

quote nanobytei can't speak for the physics of this particular game. i have however played every Ace Combat on ps2 and yes that is a totally plausible move. i used it alot in Ace Combat 5. however one adjustment i would make is to push down as apposed to pulling up, you get a quicker altitude change that way and it is quicker to pull up after the enemy has passed than it is to push down. i would recommend it for the more common enemies not the aces they are little more tricky.
