Hello All

To try and spark some more PES 2008 related conversation in this forum, I (with input from Chelsea Mint Fc) have put together a little thread for appreciating the little gems that have helped us through the game.

Obviously there is no one in the game on par with Park Chu Young of PES6 (still worshipped by some as a modern deity), but there are a few players I'm sure who have impressed us.


So how it works is; Every 4 days, a new featured player will be added. Members can come and share their stories regarding the player. Their highs, their lows, their disappointments, or their delights.

You can post stats the player got, ratings, certain seasons or certain matches. Your stories can be from Master League, Exhibitions, Leagues Cups, anything.


And finally, if you have a player that you want to see in this thread as a featured player, dont hesitate to PM me with your suggestion

Well - Gervinho. All I can say is a star! I first spotted him in my challenging Master League with an African and Americas based team. But I bought him after he scored a brace against my team in the League. I was astonished - I thought he would be like 28 because he was pretty good, but he was only 20 and I snapped him up for about 4m.

He's got a very sweet peak. The game says his peak is 89 on sheet, but I'd say it was 95. His pace get immense and who needs stars when you have stats like his.

Curiously enough, me too. Im not sure if he scored a brace against me, but he impressed me when i played against Le Mans and he came on as a sub.
It was probably the first time that i bought a player based on his performance against me, usually, my transfers depended on stats and stars alone.

But jesus, was he good. I started to get guilty because i was scoring so many goals with him. It was just getting ridiculously easy. Give ball to him, run half the pitch and just blast it in.

I think he got 25 goals in his first full season for me, which is *bleep*ing good for me, cuz i rotate my squad a lot...


And i see he is tearing it up in the NPML as well.

Yeah, he's a bit of a gun. There's a picture of his stats when peaked or nearly peaked that Stratty posted, and they're awesome.

We need some more discussion about him. How was he in the earlier games? Was he even in PES5 and 4?

Try him, I fully recomend.

I've found a picture of Gervinho's stats according to Stratty when he was ha;f/fully developed. Although it's in a different language, should be the same:



They're not bad. A bit like Eto'o.. But better.

The first time I came across Gervinho was when I played against Le Mans a couple of seasons into my ml. I hacked him down with Carragher because he was ripping my defence apart, needless to say he didn't get back up. But I checked him out after the game finished and thought he looked a decent prospect, so I snapped him up when the next transfer window came around, and as they say, the rest is history. He's always a handy player to have, I tend to use him to partner Torres when Benzema is fatigued. He doesn't offer the same threat in the air, but his pace is phenomenal, particularly handy if you play him in a three pronged attack on either wing.

First noticed this guy when he was released by Le Mans in the first transfer window .With the defualts his pace alooked exactly what I needed to partner the rather slow Vourinen up-front and he was a very worthy buy between them they scored 43 goals in the season to help me win pormotion to D1 Gervinho is still with me now in 2015 and still is ripping defences aprt.

As you lot might know, I signed him during my WBA SOM's and he worked wonders scoring 5 out of 6 appearances. One thing i did admire about him was his pace and ability to keep on going. Great player ! develops into a beast

What a HERO!!

He worked wonders for me in my ML, everyone was raving about him so I thought id give him a go and he was magic.

Do you guys think that this guy is the new Park Chu Young?

Well i have Gervinho on loan in the NMPL, and he has scored two goals in the first two pre-season games.
