Lolz, i agree with PK and M-Banana. I'm only doing an Arsenal one, because A) I ahven't had any xpereinces with them prior to the ML, and B) I'm also sticking to some guidelines referring to ages and etc. Like Arsenal irl, i sold my best players in the TW.

Arsenal : Young Guns Gone Good The Managers Thoughts June 2nd 2008 ![]() Today Arsenal TV brings you an exclusive never before seen interview with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger. Wenger goes on to give a short description about every play he has in his squad and rates their performances this season. 1 - Jens Lehmann ![]() Games - 16 (1) Clean Sheets - 3 Goals Conceded - 21 'At 37 years of age, and a wealth of experience i thought Jens would be the ideal stopper for my team this year. It turned out that this was not so the case. Jens seemed to be low on morale throughout the season and his performances on the pitch showed this. What i do with Jens now is my decision, i am contemplating releasing him on behalf of his wish, or to keep him and let him earn his position once more.' Overall Rating - 5.0 2 - Abou Diaby ![]() Games - 13 (5) Goals - 4 Assists - 2 'Abou really impressed me this term, starting alot of game at the start of the season. His physcial presence is a real plus when he plays with Cesc, because it allows Cesc to play his game without having to worry about the defensive side of it. Scoring a repsectable 4 goals this term, i see Abou as a big part of my plans next season.' Overall Rating - 7.25 3 - Bacary Sagna ![]() Games - 17 (2) Goals - 0 Assists - 1 'A first choice Right-Back for the whole season Bacary proved a great signing. Doing a brilliant job at full-back without really going noticed, thankfully for him i saw this and was impressed. With several other full-backs challenging him for his spot, Bacary mat have done just enough for me to grant him the right-back position his own.' Overall Rating - 6.75 4 - Cesc Fàbregas ![]() Games - 30 (1) Goals - 8 Assists - 9 'This guy has been one of the players i just couldn't take out of the team this year. He was fantastic, after scoring 8 goals and assisting in 9, Fabregas was voted joing player of the year, and made the team of the year. In a few years time Cesc could be the best midfielder on this planet.' Overall Rating - 9.75 5 - Kolo Touré ![]() Games - 20 (0) Goals - 3 Assists - 1 'Another solid season from Kolo. Was struggling with fitness in the first half of the season, but after the break got back on form and scored 3 goals in our push for promotion. His season also instrumented his leadership skills as Kolo was first choice for the armband when William wasn't able to play.' Overall Rating - 7.0 6 - Phillipe Senderos ![]() Games - 14 (3) Goals - 0 Assists - 0 'One of the better performers this year. Phillipe has been critiscized heavily in the past for making errors and not concentrating 100%. This year however, i fell that Phil has made some serious steps to become a contender for William's centre back position, as he edges towards his later years. Despite not getting a goal or an assist this year, Phillipe has been dominant when called upon.' Overall Rating - 7.0 7 - Bryn Duffy ![]() Games - 8 (4) Goals - 1 Assists - 1 'I brought this young player from Cork City in January with the initial idea to try and add him to the first team plans for the season coming up. He impressed me in the reserves and with Mathieu Flamini being sold, he reminded me of Flamini in many ways. His diminutive stature was not a problem, and his never say die, dogged attitude made me draft him into the side. Scoring one goal and assisting one more. I feel he will be a very useful player.' Overall Rating - 7.0 9 - Eduardo Da Silva ![]() Games - 11 (7) Goals - 6 Assists - 1 'Eduardo joined last summer, but this season had a bad time. Despite scoring 6 goals from 18 appearances, Eduardo struggled with a lack of fitness and form. Scoring 6 goals, he did prove his finishin was second to none, as 4 of his 6 goals came in 1-on-1 situations. I have high hopes for Eduardo and expect him to do well next year.' Overall Rating - 6.5 10 - William Gallas ![]() Games - 20 (0) Goals - 0 Assists - 0 'Like fellow Centre Back and stalwart like partner Kolo. William had yet another great and consistent season. After starting 20 games like Kolo, Gallas also captained the side to second place in the league. I have been impressed with the consitency of the defence this year, and William had no small part to play.' Overall Rating - 7.0 11 - Robin Van Persie ![]() Games - 14 (7) Goals - 3 Assists - 3 'Like Eduardo, Robin never got up to speed this season after injuru niggles and a lack of form and fitness. However he did score 3 important goals and managed to play 14 games from the start. Unluckily for him though, alot of those were out of position on the left wing, as i found it impossible to drop Emmanuel Adebayor when he was in such great form.' Overall Rating - 6.5 12 - Ji-Paraná ![]() Games - 8 (0) Goals - 1 Assists - 1 'I brought Junior in January after he impressed me whilst we played Internacional. It's undoubted he's got alot of potential, and could make his big break next year, but he had a surprising amount of appearances last year, including a man of the match performance against Marseille.' Overall Rating - 6.75 13 - Uğur Uçar ![]() Games - 10 (2) Goals - 1 Assists - 'Another one of my Turkish players, Uğur has been a great buy. His versatility allows him to play in numerous positions and his laid back and determined attitude is great for team morale. Uğur could possibly push Bacary for his place in the team next year.' Overall Rating - 7.0 15 - Denílson ![]() Games - 13 (5) Goals - 0 Assists - 2 'Denílson started this season brightly clocking up a healthy amount of games. Deployed in the holding role in the absense of then first choice defensive midfielder Flamini, Denílson shone and proved his mettle. After the purchase of other central midfielders in the Winter, Denílson was limited to his opportunities in the second half of the season, and has indicated his wish to go out on loan for some first team football.' Overall Rating - 6.75 17 - Machado ![]() Games - 8 (4) Goals - 1 Assists - 2 'Machado is another of the players i brought in January. After talks stalled, as we tried to agree a fee with Sao Paulo. After agreeing a fee, we had to find some accomadation for Machado's family on request from him. We finalised the deal and over he came. Not making his debut until March Machado made an pleasable impact as he scored and assisted two in just 8 games.' Overall Rating - 7.0 18 - Pablo Menendez ![]() Games - 8 (0) Clean Sheets - 7 Goals Conceded - 1 'Yet another one of my youngsters that i signed in January, Pablo settled in well with the first team as understduy to Jens. Little did he know he was to go on and break numerous records for a goalkeeper. Keeping a sensational 7 clean sheets from 8 games, conceding a solitary goal at the hands of Raejko Gullit, Dutch legend Ruud Gullit's offspring, Menendez looks a good punt to capture the number 1 jersey next season at just 18 years of age.' Overall Rating - 8.0 19 - Gilberto Silva ![]() Games - 18 (1) Goals - 5 Assists - 1 'Gilberto started the season strongly as he, Cesc and Mathieu formed a strong partnership in the centre of the park. As with most of our midfielders, he was soon limited to his games. He did however knock up 19 appearances in total and score a repectable 5 goals and some match winning performances.' Overall Rating - 7.75 20 - Johann Djourou ![]() Games - 8 (8) Goals - 1 Assists - 0 'Along with Phillipe, Johann has caught some flack in previous seasons for his temperament and concentration. We sent him on loan the season before last at Birmingham and it did him the world of good. Johann had gained some valuable experience and took it into the new season. Being the most used substitute this season, shows that i feel his temperament is now very good, and as a sub he can calm the game down and see it out. I've played him in the centre, and at full-back but he most impressed me when deployed in midfield.' Overall Rating - 7.25 21 - Aislan ![]() Games - 6 (4) Goals - 1 Assists - 0 'I brought in Aislan in January as part of the deal for Machado. Machado and Aislan are good friends off the pitch and i thought it would be ideal if both were at the club. Obviously i had admired Aislan initially but with my interest in Machado also granted i was happy to make a double bid. I've played Aislan when ever i felt right, and he has done a good job. He scored on his debut and has partnerned both Kolo and William.' Overall Rating - 7.0 22 - Gaël Clichy ![]() Games - 17 (4) Goals - 2 Assists - 3 'I have been very impressed by Gael this season. With our amount of full-backs at out disposure and the lack of wingers, i played Clichy at left wing occasionally, and he excelled. Scoring three goals this season, one a fantastic free-kick in the latter stages of the campaign, Gael has impressed me. He is extremely quick and delivers a great ball. Gael could be Arsenal's left back for the next 5, 10 years if he keeps improving' Overall Rating - 7.5 25 - Emmanuel Adebayor ![]() Games - 20 (3) Goals - 25 Assists - 2 'Well, well well. Emmanuel has been incredible this season. Scoring 2 more goals then his total appearance record and an ever present when available. Scoring a staggering 3 hat-tricks this season, one of which lead to two more as he scored 5 against RC Lens, Emmanuel will be at the Emirates this year and will start on August 31st when we tackle out first opponents.' Overall Rating - 9.5 26 - Nicklas Bendtner ![]() Games - 8 (6) Goals - 6 Assists - 3 'Nicklas has impressed me this season. He started it with a bang with 2 goals against River Plate, but a lack of fitness and Adey's form, Nicklas wasn't able to establish himself in the side. He did however chart up a respectable 6 goals from nly 14 appearances. I see Bendtner as a future star striker for this club.' Overall Rating - 7.0 27 - Emmanuel Eboué ![]() Games - 23 (3) Goals - 5 Assists - 8 'Manu has done exceptionally this season. With Bacary's consistent performances at right-back Manu was never going to stand a shot at playing their, along with his lack of defensive capabilities. Manu was often played as a right winger or left winger this season and he did a grand job. Scoring a fantastic 5 goals and assisting 8 times, Eboue's pace and strength worked wonders down the wings and earned many a plaudit. He is a sure player for my plans next season.' Overall Rating - 9.0 30 - Armand Traoré ![]() Games - 9 (0) Goals - 1 Assists - 0 'After a season in the reserves, impressing with some brilliant performances. Armand was promoted to the first team last year, and made some creditable performances. Armand did much the same this year as he made 9 starts and scored 1 goal. He has unbelivable potential and could break into the team in the coming seasons.' Overall Rating - 6.75 31 - Justin Hoyte ![]() Games - 11 (7) Goals - 0 Assists - 0 'Justin has been making appearances for the first team for a long time, but he got his best season yet under his bely this season. Making a total of 18 appearances and doing a solid job at right and left back, and occasionally as a centre back. Hoytey may get a break in the team next year, or may go on loan.' Overall Rating - 6.75 32 - Theo Walcott ![]() Games - 21 (5) Goals - 8 Assists - 9 'After a big money move from Southampton in 2006, Walcott had some big boots to fill in the terms of former Arsenal Wingers. With the late great Liam Brady and Frenchman Robert Pires playing their before him, Walcott stood up to the task of the legendary wing role as he performed sensationally. After scoring a near 10 goals, and assisting 9, Walcott was rightly selected for the Team of the Season. Walcott will stay at Arsenal this season.' Overall Rating - 9.25 39 - Henry Lansbury ![]() Games - 8 (6) Goals - 2 Assists - 1 'Henry is one of the players, that this season has taken his chances. Because of this i started him 8 times, and brought him on 6. He scored 2 goals also, which alwats helps and assisted once. This boy has amazing potential.' Overall Rating - 7.75 40 - Vito Mannone ![]() Games - 3 (1) Clean Sheets - 1 Goals Conceded - 5 'Vito didn't have much game time this season as four keepers where in front of him. Jens, Manuel Almunia, Menendez and Lukas Fabianksi were all ahead. He did however play 3 games keeping one clean sheet. Although he did conceded 5 goals in the other two games, not quite good enough for a regular place, but may get his chance in the future.' Overall Rating - 6.5 41 - Luke Freeman ![]() Games - 2 (6) Goals - 5 Assists - 0 'Luke is special. After he made his full debut against Zaragoza who would have predictaed he'd go on to score a hat-trick and be the man of the match. It's make me wander how he has such natural talent and potential but is only 15 years old. Yes 15, i would have played him more had he not have been on fire in the reserves and Adey was equally good for the first team. Next year he'll play more, and score more. ' Overall Rating - 7.5 43 - Nacer Barazite ![]() Games - 3 (6) Goals - 1 Assists - 2 'Nacer was another one of the youngsters i gave a first team shirt to last year. He has shone aswell. Despite being played vastly out of position as a winger opposed to his more central role, he has still done a great job. I have hopes for him, and can see him flourishing in years to come. ' Overall Rating - 7.0 66 - Arda Turan ![]() Games - 9 (0) Goals - 1 Assists - 2 'Joining from Galatasaray in Januray, Arda took a while to get into the swing of things. In his first few weeks in London, he found it hard to adpat to the new lifestyle, but eventually got a place and shacked up with fellow Turks Batuhan and Ugur Ucar for the meantime. Arda soon settled down and hit some good form, scoring his first goal in the -2 rout of Ajax, before going on to finish the season strong. ' Overall Rating - 7.0 99 - Batuhan Karadeniz ![]() Games - 1 (4) Goals - 1 Assists - 0 'Batuhan joined from Besiktas in January, and has settled into life a bit better than Arda. He has been limited to his opportunites, but he has impressed me in the reserves. He scored a total of 23 goals in 16 games, and i gave him his full towards the end of the season, a game which he scored in. Next season i can see him being a big player for us. ![]() Hertha Berlin ![]() Division 2 ELA (EuroLiga Association) Division 2 Cup Final Hertha Berlin 3-3 Sampdoria (AET) 10' Gomez 40' Koman 46' Park Chu-Young 51' Koman 94' Palombo 112' NijkampHertha Berlin won 5-4 on penalties Park Chu-YoungHertha Berlin capped off a wonderful 2007 by defeating Sampdoria 5-4 on penalties in the ELA Div.2 Cup Final at the City of Manchester Stadium, after the game finished 3-3 after extra time. It was hailed by many fans, players and both managers after the game as the best Cup Final of 2007 in all competitions. The match had it all. Drama, intensity, excitement, desperation. And in the end, the German side were able to claim the trophy and achieve a superb domestic double. Mario Gomez scored the opening goal after just ten minutes, then Sampdoria equalised just before half time through Hungarian star Koman. The second half began with a bang for Berlin, with Park Chu-Young scoring a cracker within a minute of the restart. Koman again equalised for the Italians 5 minutes later. No other goals were scored in normal time, so the match went into extra time. Palombo scored what surely would've been the winning goal, only for Dutch wonderkid Jan Nijkamp to score a sensational equaliser, his first for the club. The match went to penalties, where Nijkamp and Volpi both missed their spot-kicks. Dutchman Nigel de Jong stepped up in the first sudden death penalty for Hertha and coolly slotted past the keeper. Palombo's penalty was saved by Hildebrand and Hertha were crowned Cup Champions. This message was edited by ConAir on Aug 05 2008. | |

Arsenal : Young Guns Gone Good Turkish Delight? July 10th 2008 ![]() 10 days after their pre-season win against an Asia-Ocenia all-star team, Arsenal were once again back in action as they took on Turkish giants Besiktas. With new boy Mario Balotelli being dismissed on his debut, manager Arsene Wenger is said to be in split minds as to whether or not to play the youngster. He said 'do i discipline him for his actions or do i showcase him to the fans?'. In better news Arsenal have completed the signing of Argentinian centre back Fabricio Coloccini. The shaggy-haired star was released by Deportivo La Coruna at the end of last season as part of their 'cost-cutting'. Coloccini takes the number 11 shirt vacated by Robin Van Persie's departure. Arsenal did buy another player since in the form of 20 year-old former Lyon keeper Joan Hartock. The Frenchman joins Arsenal on a free transfer after Lyon had released him. Wenger said this on Hartock - 'he is a very good shot stopper. I am amazed at lyon for letting him go, but it is only to my benefit. I hope Joan settles in well, and i hope to see him battle Pablo Menendez and Vito Mannone for the keepers spot'. Along with new faces, old faces have to leave. And in this case Swiss defender Johann Djourou was the departure. Arsene Wenger said he did not wish to sell Djourou but 'the offer was to good, and Johann wanted to leave. We sih him luck at Besiktas.' Arsenal are also said to be in the driving seat to land Portugese star Miguel Veloso. The Sporting Lisbon man has requested a transfer request after Sporting's relegation last season and Arsenal could be the place he wants to go. Rumours of Phillipe Senderos being used as bait in the deal have been circling the tabloids this week. Deals So Far IN OUT Arsenal 3 - 0 Besiktas Arsenal Mendendez Sagna - Senderos - Coloccini - Clichy Arda Turan - Fabregas - Gilberto Walcott - Adebayor - Balotelli Besiktas Rüştü Kurtuluş - Zan - Toraman - Tello Cisse Ozkan - Ricardinho - Aydin Karabulut Nobre - Guemamdia 0 min -Adebayor and Balotelli who has been recalled get us under way today. 4 min - Balotelli's through ball to Adebayor was flagged for offside after the Togolese star was half a yard off. 7 min - Ricardinho concededs the first foul of the game for a trip on Fabregas. 10 min - Arsenal almost have the lead as Theo Walcott's cross was met by the head of Adebayor who forced Rustu into a fine point blank save. 11 min - Fabregas receives the games first booking after a poor challenge on Nobre. 16 min - Arsenal continue to pile on the pressure as first Theo Walcott and then Arda Turan's efforts were stopped by Rustu again. 32 min - Cesc Fabregas comes close from the best part of 35 yards as his shot brushes the top of the net. 37 min - Arsenal begin to get frustrated as Gilberto Silva's low hard drive was palmed away by an inspired Rustu. 39 min - From the resulting corner, their is a scramble in the box with the ball falling at Balotelli's, Seneros' and Walcott's feet without either being able to make a good connection. 45 min - The referee calls an end to a goalless first half. 45 min - Guemamdia and Nobre get the second half underway. 49 min - Arsenal finally get their goal as Gael Clichy's low cross was smashed by Arda Turan straight at Rustu. Luckily for Arda, the ball came back to him and he sidefooted home for 1-0. 52 min - Arsenal look to be in free flow now as they add a second to their name. After Walcott got contact on Fabregas' corner, the ball hit Swiss defender Senderos in the face and fell over the line, for a goal in what could be his last game for the Gunners. 56 min - After Fabregas came close once more, Arsene Wenger made his first change of the match as Gael Clichy came off and was replaced by Armand Traore. 65 min - Mario Balotelli is denied his first goal for the Gunners as his swivel and shot was saved fantastically by Rustu. This called upon a triple change with Balotelli, Adebayor and Arda Turan all coming off, and being replaced by Luke Freeman, Eduardo and Machado. 66 min - And Freeman came close to getting a goal with his first touch of the ball as his header was yet again denied by Rustu. 66 min - From the resulting corner Freeman got another header in, and was yet again denied by Rustu but his save only went as far as to Eduardo who bundled home for 3-0. 73 min - Newboy Fabio Coloccini is booked after a late tackle on Delgado. Harsh. On the back of this, Bacary Sagna and Theo Walcott are replaced by Ugur Ucar and Kolo Toure as Phillipe Senderos moves up the field to centre forward, in what look to be his last game. 78 min - After being put through on goal Eduardo tries a cheeky chip over Rustu only to see his effort come off the post and out for a goal-kick. 90 min - Arsenal win the game 3-0 as the referee calls for full-time. A solid performance and a fitting goodbye to Phillipe Senderos who got a goal. Events 11' Fabregas receives booking. 49' Arda Turan scores the opener. 52' Senderos doubles Arsenal's lead after scoring with his face. 66' Eduardo seals the victory after poking home. 73' Newboy Coloccini is booked.
