Bhoys Lift Cup With Comfort Celtic 3 - 1 Derby Robson 45+',86' - Hasselbaink 90+' Zarate 56' - -------- 13(9) Shots(on target) 6(4) 3 Fouls 2 1 Yellow 0 0 Red 1 50 Possesion 50 MOTM: Robson 7.5 Barry Robson grabbed a brace as Celtic cruised to the double with an emphatic win over Derby. Jan Vennegoor wasted a glorious chance early on, shooting just wide after turning Davis inside out. Then came the first of Maloney's chances, put through 1-1 by Vennegoor he steadied himself but shot wide with the goal at his mercy. Then after Bywater and Zarate clashed, the ball popped out to Maloney but Bywater reacted in time to tip the ball out for a corner. From Mizuno's resulting corner Robson got the opener, beating Todd easily. Zarate got his goal after a scramble he began, he jinked inside Moore and shot low across the goal only for it to clip the keepers foot and deflect out to Robson, he took a touch to his left and shot but it was blocked away but only as far as Zarate who found the gap to make it 2-0. The third was work of genius from O'Dea, having collected the ball just outside his own box he flew up the left wing before cutting inside to fake a shot then lay the ball off to Robson who smashed it into the top corner with his weaker Right, cue rapturous celebrations. The Bhoys fans were still cheering when the Rams got a consolation, sloppy defending allowed hasselbaink in to clip over Boruc. But they wont mind that as they did the double in style. There was still time for Darren Moore to get a straight red for his hauling down of Zarate, Robson's attempt at the hat trick from the free kick was poor though.

West Ham United Zola Named As Hammers Boss ![]() Gianfranco Zola, one of the greatest overseas players to grace the English game during his seven years at Chelsea, was named as the new manager of their Premier League rivals West Ham United on Thursday. The 42-year-old, who signed a three-year contract, also had a glittering international career with Italy and was working as assistant coach to the Under-21 Italy side before deciding to accept West Ham's offer and move back to London. He replaces Alan Curbishley, who resigned a week ago because of too much board interference. Although he is the Hammers' fifth manager in seven years, he is the first foreigner to manage the club which remains closely linked to their working-class, east London roots. "In my first experience in England I had seven wonderful years with Chelsea, and that is something I will never forget," he told a news conference when he was unveiled as the new boss at Upton Park on Thursday. "But now I have the possibility to have another great experience as a manager and I hope my next few years will be as good as my first seven. That's my aim, my target. "I will do everything I can, with all my power, to make it work. This is a very important part of my life and what is important is this club which has put their faith in me and I will try to make it work for them." West Ham said Zola was the unanimous choice of the board who had drawn up a list of "high calibre" candidates. "I am very delighted, it's a great honour to be given such an important job," he added. "I thank the board for choosing me and Gianluca Nani for supporting me." Zola Appoints Clarke As Assistant ![]() West Ham have appointed Steve Clarke as first-team coach after a compensation package was agreed with Chelsea last night. Clarke tendered his resignation to the Blues last Friday, which was initially rejected, as he sought to join new Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola at Upton Park. Chelsea demanded substantial compensation, reported to be as much as £5million, for the former Scotland international, but the London clubs are thought to have settled on a lower figure. Clarke spent 11 years as a player at Stamford Bridge from 1987 and returned to the club as a youth-team coach following a short spell as Newcastle's assistant manager. He was promoted to become Jose Mourinho's assistant manager following the Portuguese's arrival in 2004 and went on to work under Avram Grant and current Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari. West Ham chief executive Scott Duxbury said: "Steve is rightly regarded as one of the top coaches in Europe and his experience and knowledge will be a huge asset to us. Corrrrr, thought i might join in the fun and mention my start to my ML season
2007, Season One (obvs) Tottenham Hotspur FC Game Level; top player (5/5) ML League Level; very hard (5/5) ^^ i think thats what they are my first XI; Gomes, Hutton, King, Woodgate, Powell (me), Lennon, Jenas, Modric, Bale, Pavlyuchenko, Bent. Subs; (mainly ones i give a damn about) Cesar (GK), Bentley, Dawson, Ekotto, Huddlestone & Campbell (Frazier Campbell) - I traded most players from the spurs team and new ones into it as well as all the other premier league teams so that it was similar to the real life teams this season. ALSO i created Frazier Campbell using the stats on the 'player stats' thread so that it wasnt biased either. Games to come.. (y)

so about halfway into my season some interesting results tbh; lost 3-2 v Sunderland lost 3-1 v Chelsea drew 1-1 v Arsenal won 2-1 v Man U (scored the best goal i have ever scored on pro with Bent!) got knocked out by Wigan 1-0 on agg in D2 Cup first round :/ new team: Gomes Corluka-King-Woodgate-Powell(me) Huddlestone Lennon-Modric-Jenas-Bale Bent I think Bent is brillaint and plays best when up front on his own with the wingers acting as WF but with them just there as l/r mid. gonna try and buy a good right back. a good defending midfielder (maybe muntari or real madrid's one-cant remember the name) and a good SS to partner Bent on the days when I need two strikers (y)
