[Rant Begins]
Im upset at not having a good football game this year. When I bought PES, I returned it a few days later greatly disappointed for various reasons (no point in going over old ground). I then bought FIFA hoping for a miracle. While it is OK, there are some flaws in the game that are detrimental to any football game including a greatly over-balanced momentum feature, shoddy defending (basically just hold down [] + X and hope for the best!), AI predicts your moves etc. I won't bore you.

Basically lads, what are the chances of Konami getting their act together ans releasing a great footy game this year that could rival the games of old? Its horrible not having a decent game to play especially with the Euros on (gets you in the mood for a quick Croatia v Germany!).

Any thoughts?

Well maybe I exagerrated with the 'few days' but things like goalkeepers pushing a soft shot in front of an opposing attacker for a tap-in or being sent off for a slide tackle, I'm sorry, I just couldn't live with.

I just hope it's not the end of PES as we know it (PES 5/6). Damn next-gen!!

It is frustrating, but in my eyes its still a shitload better than FIFA and its the best we've got until the wonderful PES 2009 hits the shelves

I agree with you that the actual gameplay is quite good. It's just when you don't have the ball the problems start with tackling and goalkeeping. I'm afraid to say I actually bought FIFA but trust me, I haven't converted. That game is just as frustrating as PES but in different ways.

I hope Konami have gotten used to the system now to make a good installment this year. I remember someone saying that when rockstar released that table tennis game for the 360, it was so they could get to grips with the new engine in time for the release of GTA4 and therefore the game has recieved rave reviews all-round and rightly so. I hope it was a similar case with PES 2008.
