![]() Sevilla F.C Week 12 Team News ------------- Sevilla v. Barcelona Shocker! Today on the 20th of November, 2007, Sevilla took on Barcelona at home. With such a good start, manager Eric Flynn was looking forward to the biggest game of the year and was confident with his team and their start of season success. "It all goes down to the day, anything could happen. The fact that we are at home may give us a slight advantage, but I greatly respect Barcelona and Rijkaard, such a great team with great history, let's just see how it goes." Unfortunately the game didn't go down too well for Sevilla, as the game kicked off, you could see the nerves in Sevilla's defence and midfield quite clearly. Messi hit an attack at them in the first three minutes and opened the scoring with a fine finish, could have been defended a lot better after seeing Sevilla's defence in recent matches. Things just weren't going Sevilla's way, Barcelona with all possession and it was extremely difficult for Sevilla to get out of their own half. With the fact that Eric (Flynn) had benched Kerzhakov because of fitness, it didn't help their attacking situation at all. As the game went on, Barcelona completely dominated, first half led to a 4-0 lead to Barcelona, Sevilla hadn't a clue what hit them. The fans were hoping Eric would wake the players up but a deed like this was very difficult, he did his best but it was no good, they held on for about 20 minutes into the second half, then Barcelona demolished them. With the game ending 8-2 to Barcelona after Sevilla got two late consolations, the fans weren't too happy, nor was the manager with the player's performances. "I really don't know what happened in the game myself, we just seemed so nervous, playing a team like Barcelona doesn't happen every week, but that game was abnormal. We were so poor in every department and I think we were rather lucky to grab two goals at the end. Full credit to Barcelona though, excellent performance by them, Messi and Ronaldinho were running the show." ----------- Besides the game at the weekend against Barcelona, Sevilla were playing excellently all season, and a lot of people were surprised how well they had done. They took all the odds against Real Madrid away the next weekend and beat them 3-1, dominating the game, crucial finishes from Jesús Navas and Kerzhaov sealed the victory. ![]() Sevilla F.C Week 26 Team News ------------- Martí On Fire Sevilla central midfielder Jose Luis Martí has started to hit amazing form recently, playing out of his skin week in and week out. He's set up tons of goals, created loads of opportunities and not to mention, has scored the most important goals this season. He led Sevilla to a 2-1 victory, after being 1-0 after the first half when Martí scored twice, against Real Murcia. The fans are all arguing over which should be goal of the season so far, Ronaldinho's against Valencia, or Martí's second absolute peach against Murcia. "I knew before I came to Sevilla there were some really key players here and Martí was certainly one of them" manager Eric Flynn said. "He's been one of the most under-rated players of the year this season, he hasn't been mentioned once in the morning papers, even after all of the brilliant goals he set up and match winners he scored, whereas Ronaldinho is in the paper every week, whether it's about him, or his lifestyle. We've just got to build on our team and make sure we continue getting better." Kerzhakov Losing Interest? Some of the supporters claim that Kerzhakov hasn't played up to his best the past 10 or so matches. Although he's scored in most of them, they think he could have scored a lot more, and probably won Sevilla more games. After a press conference with Eric Flynn, the question came up on the subject. "I think that's a really silly question to be asking. I really don't think he's been playing below his standard at all, in fact if anything he's been playing a lot better. The fact that at the start of the year he was our only striker performing well and basically our only attacker scoring goals, winning us loads of games and points. But during the middle of the first half of the season, I had a go at the other strikers about not pulling their weight around the club. Chevanton responded brilliantly to it, and later in the week, he got four against Getafé. Luis Fabiano later responded and started playing really well. But Kanoute didn't get much better, which is why I had to sell him and buy Ari. The fact that the other attackers have started to play well, is probably why you think Kerzhakov isn't playing as well, when he really is but it's just not so noticeable anymore." League Cup Disappointment During the middle of the first half of the season, Sevilla were scheduled to play Real Zaragoza in the LEague Cup. A lot of the fans were looking forward to the cup games since the start of the season. The first leg came and Sevilla were absolutely excellent, they trashed Zaragoza 3-0 away from home. The second leg came a few weeks later, and the manager said he could notice the cockiness in the player's faces before the game had become, he tried to knock it out of them but it didn't work. The second game came and Zaragoza hit them hard. They went 3-0 up in the first half and Sevilla were shocked. In the second half, Kerzhakov got an early goal to make it 3-1 and 4-3 to Sevilla on aggregate. But during the game Zaragoza dominated, and right at the end, they got a goal and wrapped the game up by winning 4-1. That meant the game ended 4-4 over the two legs, but Zaragoza won on away goals. Sevilla players and fans were gutted. "I was rather shocked in the game myself, stuff like that doesn't normally happen, but we were really poor I must admit and Zaragoza were really up for it. The better team won on the day. I know the fans would have loved for us to do well in the cup, but maybe it was for the best of the team. It means we can now focus on the league and do as well as possible in it, let's just see what happens." ------------------- League Top Four Team 1. F.C Barcelona 2. Valencia C.F 3. Sevilla F.C 4. Liverpool FC Master League: Manager: Paul Foxcroft Usual XI: Reina Arbeloa Carragher Agger Riise Gerrard Mascherano Alonso Kuyt Torres Babel Week 19-Halfway Update 1. Manchester United 49pts 2. Arsenal 47pts 3. West Ham 46pts 4. Chelsea 41pts 5. Man City 40pts 6. Boro 40pts 7. Wigan 37pts 8. LIVERPOOL 35pts 9. Tottenham 31pts 10.Reading 30pts 11.Everton 28pts 12.Portsmouth 23pts 13.Newcastle 23pts 14.Aston Villa 21pts 15.Blackburn 19pts 16.Bolton 17pts 17.Birmingham 15pts 18.Fulham 13pts 19.Derby 11pts 20.Sunderland 9pts D1 CUP Despite Liverpool's relatively slow progress in the league, they're on fire in the D1 Cup. Knocking out Fulham in Round 1 by the score of 7-4, they went on to beat top of the table United, scraping it by a goal in a toughly fought 2-1 match at the Estadio Da Luzii. In the next round they faced lowly Derby, and wrapped it up in extra time with a Ryan Babel hat-trick to spare their blushes, as the race in the League Cup hots up, the future's looking bright, the future's looking Red. European Cup After their amazing top three finish in the 07/08 season, Liverpool qualified for the European Championship, drawing Sevilla, AZ, and St Etienne in their group. With four wins out of six, they managed to top their group. .They won 2-0 against AZ and St Etienne and got their other two wins against Sevilla, 4-2 at home and 3-2 away. They were beaten by the French outfit 1-0 at the Teatro Blanco and were beaten 2-1 in Holland. So they progress, and the country looks forward to the rest of the season So, with the hope of a top 6 finish, Liverpool need to concentrate hard on the league and let their European status drop out of the priority slightly, and maybe concentrate less on the D1 Cup. NEWSPAPER CUTOUT Reina Top Man Jose Manuel Reina this week spoke of his delight at being just second best to Petr Cech in the current GK Ratings. He has averaged 7.1 so far this season, making more than 12 saves a game, featuring in all of Liverpool's 28 games this season, including eight pre-season games. Reina told the Liverpool ECHO: "Obviously I want to be the top keeper but Petr(Cech) is a fantastic player, and despite the fact I am in no-one's shadow right now, I wouldn't mind being in his." He added: "I've been practising hard with Stevie and Nando taking some nice shots towards me and I just train off of them. We're all working hard now that Paul is our manager. He has a similar style to Rafa, but is quite unique. We're training well and it shows off. Of course, we must improve in the league, but in the Champions League we are doing well. I've been to one final and we lost, but I want to got to another one and win it this time." As Liverpool finished 5th, they secured themselves a spot in Europe. But where? With a Champions League Final to look forward to, Liverpool would have to seal their fate in their final match of the season. With Arsenal stealing it from United with just three matches left, devastation was everywhere at the top. Derby, Sunderland and Bolton were relegated, replaced by River Plate, Panathinaikos and Bayern Munchen. But how did the League Cup go for the Reds? League Cup Liverpool ended the League Cup just how they started it on fire, yet failed to go home with a trophy. After gleefully skipping past Birmingham in the quarters 4-0, and beating Arsenal on penalties 5-4, they faced local rivals Everton in the final. The hype was all on the red side of Merseyside, and everyone expected Liverpool to run away with it. Photos were taken of fans betting all the way up to £30,000 on Liverpool to win. But it all went pear-shaped. Steven Gerrard and Ryan Babel pulled out in the last minute due to tiredness. So Liverpool lined up like this: Reina Arbeloa Carragher Agger Riise Mascherano Lucas Alonso Kuyt Crouch Torres Things started out bright for the reds, with Torres linking up well with Crouch in the first 20 minutes coming close numerous times, but it was in the 37th minute when Everton broke the deadlock when Thomas Gravesen sent a long ball to the newly signed Carew who controlled brilliantly and dinked it over Reina's sliding body. In the 79th minute however, Liverpool were given a lifeline. When Kuyt appeared to be felled by Stubbs, referee Cart White gave Liverpool a penalty. Without a dedicated taker, it was Lucas who stepped up, without any confidence. He went to Wessel's left and just managed to squeeze it in. 1-1. Game on. But, in a cruel twist of fate, a Van Der Meyde cross from the left deflected off of Arbeloa and looked to be heading for a corner until Anichebe squared it for Carew who gently slotted it into the middle of the net Euro Update To Come... ------------------- Awl hell's breakin' loose Sign my Guestbook

Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I'm Jon Champion here with my colleague Mark Lawrenson for what is a huge game at this point of the season. Paul Foxcroft: "Well, I'm not completely surprised. The midfield was solid and we dominated for large spells of the match. Stevie was influential and Nando was making some *bleep*in' fantastic runs. Sorry for the language. Barca did well, their goal was fantastic and their finest spells were breathtaking. I praise their manager and players for a good show today and hopefully it means we'll be in with Europe's elite in 09/10" Steven Gerrard: "I'm chuffed. We were brilliant today becuase we kept the ball for so long that it was hard for anyone to get hold of us. To be honest I'm a bit upset with Xavi's discipline. If they were getting beat and he was frustrated the last thing you do is lunge in. His tackle forced us to take Dirk off. Torres was brilliant, it was a comedy today watching him dance past players. He's still only 25 and he's got years left. I'm 29 today and I think my best years are behind me. Paul's let me choose the new captain and I'm gonna hand over my responsibilities to Xabi at the end of the season. I just hope he guides us equally well." Pepe Reina: " I'm so unbelievably happy. We've made better progress in the league than half way through, and the Group Stages were good but we HAVE NOT had a result quite like this in the Champions League since I've been here, maybe beating Besiktas but this means more. I'm upset with the goal I conceded but it was a brilliant strike from Thierry, constantly bending away from me, unstoppable recorded by the Liverpool ECHO, a Trinity Mirror production ------------------- Awl hell's breakin' loose Sign my Guestbook

Pablo Konsinzki new NAC manager In a shock move, relatively unknown manager Pablo Konsinzki has been appointed the new NAC Breda manager. The club, who finished 11th in the Eredvisie last year, were said to be "ecstatic" with the capture of their new manager. Earlier today we managed to get a quick 5 minute interview with their Chairman Willem van der Hoeven and question him about why they appointed a relatively unknown manager. Here is what he had to say: quote Willem van der Hoeven We were also lucky enough to grab an interview with Pablo Konsinzki himself. This is what he told us: quote Pablo KonsinzkiKonsinzki is said to have been likely to start the season out with a 4-3-3 formation, something along the lines of this: -----------GK------------- --RB----CB-------CB----LB- ------------DM------------ ---------CM-------CM------ --RWF-----------------LWF- --------------CF---------- The key man for NAC this year could well be Victor Sikora, a 29 year old winger who has also played for Go Ahead Eagles, Vitesse Arnhem and SC Heerenveen. ![]() Could this be the man to inspire NAC to victory? With the season ready to kick off and pre-season complete, everyone is looking to Pablo Konsinzki in order to see how well he will fare and the success he can bring...

ARSENAL FC MASTER LEAGUE 2007/08 Arsenal kicked off at the start of a brutal campaign in a tough match against last season's champions, Manchester United. The game was a sizzler, with both teams having plenty of great chances, but in the end, just two were taken, a penalty at the end of first-half stoppage time from Wayne Rooney, and an excellent Cesc Fabregas volley from 38 yards, an early GOTS contender surely. With everything even, the Gunners ended the day in 9th place. 2 points off the pace. .However, things were downhill from there. Arsenal lost six games against Liverpool, Villa, Blackburn, Newcastle, Chelsea and the biggest shock of all, Derby. After seven games, Arsenal were 19th, with just one point from the whole of their games. Things looked like they were picking up with three successive wins against Portsmouth, Reading and a thrashing of Sunderland at the Emirates, 7-1. But, as is the story of Arsenal's progress so far, they went out in the early stages of the Division One cup to Derby, recording their second win in a month over the Gunners, who now had ten points from as many games. In the build up to the North London derby, Arsenal were brilliant, wrapping up an incredible eight straight victories against Birmingham, Man City, West Ham, Bolton, Everton, Fulham, Boro and Wigan. And it was exactly the same a week later. In the Gunners' most anticipated game of the season, it was a cruel WHL crowd they faced, who jeered every pass, shot and tackle Arsenal put in. In the midst of it all, six players were sent off, leaving it eight vs eight. Jermain Defoe, Didier Zokora and Steed Malbranque were dismissed for Spurs, all in the space of 20 minutes, while Emmanuel Adebayor, Niklas Bendtner and captain William Gallas were sent off for Arsenal. The game ended 4-1, with Spurs taking the early lead due to Defoe, minutes before being sent off, a double by Fabregas and V.Persie sent Spurs home empty-handed TOP FOUR Team Pts 1. United 54 2. Liverpool 52 3. City 48 4. Chelsea 46 ------------- 8. Arsenal 37 So, with Arsenal floating around mid-table, 17 points off the pace, six wins and all losses for the top seven would be required for a lead to be taken by Arsenal. .They kicked off against United again in a heated match involving two United reds and seven yellows. Gary Neville and Nani were both sent off, with Nani's second booking for diving. Goals by newly-signed Luis Fabiano and Nicolas Anelka sealed a 2-0 win for Arsenal. I really can't be bothered with the rest so here's some season highlights FABIANO'S OUTRAGE After signing for Arsenal, who at that point were eighth, Luis Fabiano showed concern at signing for a 'small club'. The player, signed from Irishman Eric Flynn's Sevilla, said that a club so close to mid-table was unacceptable. Manager Arsehole Wanker also brought in Sevilla reject Freddy Kanoute on a Bosman. Fabiano said: "Flynner was bollocking us all the time and me a Freddy got pissed off. He(Kanoute) left but I still tried hard, but Eric wouldn't have it, so he sold me to a small club. It's an outrage." Er, yeah. WANKER CAUGHT ON TAPE Estranged Arsenal manager Arsehole Wanker was caught cheating on his wife recently with the club secretary, 18 year old Cassie MacGrassey. He said that he was 'just giving her a couple of tips' and that 'she was just getting to grips with holiday spirit'. And his dongle. In other news, Wanker got home to find his wife, Theoretta Wanker in the act with Cassie MacGrassey's brother, Gassie, 14. Not a dysfunctional bunch of families,eh(!) ------------------- Awl hell's breakin' loose Sign my Guestbook
